Does it matter if I don’t use powder?

I’ve found a foundation that I really love (my skin has been awful lately due to hormones and medications) but every time I put any powder over it just ages me immediately. The foundation is an exact match for my skin but I think the powder is slightly the wrong shade it’s near enough but because the foundation is so perfect it looks wrong.

Can I just not use powder ?

I have never really bothered with make up before but I’ve been feeling so rubbish and looking unwell I wanted to try but I don’t think powder works for me but I always thought any base needed ‘setting’?

Of course you don't need to wear powder. You may find your foundation doesn't last as long or looks a bit too shiny but it depends on your skin and the foundation.

I only powder strategically and use a setting spray

I've heard if you step outside without powder, you'll be immediately arrested... sorry op...

I don't bother, I agree my foundation doesn't last that long but in the grand scheme of things i don't really care.

@infertilityissues you have found a perfect foundation and it looks very nice without powder. Of course you don't need to use powder. All you need to do is what you want to do and what makes you feel better or good or downright fantastic. Because You Are Worth It.

There is no law mandating the use of powder. I quite like some of the glowy, translucent ones but when they begin to veer into Highlighter territory I can go a bit 'Tin man'

Thankyou everyone! I was getting so confused I think the last time I looked into anything make up related was when I read sugar etc in the 90s and all of those had very specific make up advice 😂😂😂 then I never actually wore make up but had that outdated advice in the back of my mind !

I stopped using powder in my early 40s for this exact reason! You can buy primers that claim to be long lasting - there's a rimmel one that I use. You use it under your foundation.

If you are very greasy, you can put a little powder under the foundation which absorbs it before it ruins your make up.

I feel this too about powder, instantly makes me look worse - do wonder if it’s my technique though.

I use a primer and a setting spray now otherwise I think my foundation would slide off after a few hours.

I have never worn it and it is the opposite to the dewy look that people like now anyway.
I tried it when I was in my 20’s and it aged me then!
