Baked foundation?

Anyone have any experience? I keep getting FB ads, but usually for US suppliers. But the idea of it appeals as I’ve yet to find a liquid foundation that doesn’t just settle into pores or look dreadful now my skin is so much drier. Would love any suggestions for UK suppliers / stockists to try!

I'm no help I'm afraid, but I keep getting the same ads. I'm really tempted, it looks really good.

I’ve used Laura geller for years now and it’s fab. Bought it on qvc I think maybe ten or fifteen years ago and find it so easy and not-messy to use compared to liquid. When I ran out (during covid times) I was literally trawling the internet to find it as they had stopped making it. I’m very happy it’s now back!
(age 45, previously used estee lauder double wear religiously In my late twenties/early thirties when we all dressed up for office work everyday in a dress and heels; delighted to now wear jeans, trainers and less make make up / only go in a couple of days a week).

notgivinga · 29/03/2024 07:29

I ordered the Laura Geller one online it took about a week to come and I'm really pleased with it. It is much lighter than liquid foundation and I think your skin looks more natural looking.

NeedingCoffee · 29/03/2024 08:30

Ooh, that’s really good to hear! Did you both order direct from Laura Geller? And how do you find the shades compared to the pictures / guides?

How does Laura Geller compare with Bare Minerals? I always found BM looked weird on my skin no matter how little I used

adagio · 29/03/2024 09:51

I use medium in the summer (I’m pebble in Estée Lauder) and light in the winter (when I’m fresco in the double wear). No idea if that helps!

before Laura geller I used a no7 powder mineral foundation when I was on mat leave which was ok but very light coverage, and the colour didn’t really work so well (fine in the summer once tanned but a tendency to veer towards orange in the indoor months, also didn’t last that well to be honest).

Laura geller plus primer or setting spray and layered up a bit is still ‘on’ at the end of the day after cycling to and from work plus 8h+ in an office. I also touch my face way too much so if it can survive that it must be pretty good. On the weekend I do more of a light dusting of whatever is left in the brush and it’s more natural.

you need a good kabuku brush - I use the retractable one they sell for on the go and a real techniques foundation (dense brush ) to buff it on at home. Apply it like they tell you to do for mineral powder so buff on in little circles and build it up where you want more cover.

I got looped in. Bought the laura gellar stuff from a us site as they had a sale on at the time. I didn't like it at all, but they not only honored the free no hassle refund, they just asked me to pass the make up on. I gave it to my mum, she really likes it. It was a stupid thing for me to try as I have dry skin so I can't fairly comment on the product, but it did create a blurred effect, like a photo that had been touched up, and that was cool. The colour was too orange for me.

luckylavender · 29/03/2024 10:04

I've just switched from liquid to Laura Geller and I love it.

BrotherUrgh · 29/03/2024 10:06

I use the Laura Geller; it’s great but hard to get in the UK now. It looks like QVC has it in again though? The US website is having a sale as well; trying to work out which option is cheaper. Is there anywhere else it can be bought, apart from eBay?

DrJoanAllenby · 29/03/2024 10:46

If you want a cheap one to try Jerome Magic minerals is very good despite being inexpensive!

Deathraystare · 29/03/2024 15:13

Love Laura Geller! I buy it from Amazon. I prefer Balance and glow to Balance and brighten

Darklane · 29/03/2024 15:15

I use Laura Geller, get it from QVC.

TroubleMakingWitch · 29/03/2024 20:10

How is this on pale skin? I'm always worried it looks too dark on pictures online.

Not a baked foundation but this is fab.

Depending on what level of coverage I want, I use either a sponge/beauty blender or brush or both.
Finish off with NYX Setting Spray & it can last nearly 24hrs.

I tried that one, but it made me look like an oompa loompa😂

BoilingHotand50something · 29/03/2024 20:46

I fell for the Facebook ads also. I have Balance n Glow and I love it. So easy to apply.

rak5a · 29/03/2024 21:37

I buy the Laura Gellar from eBay. Seems to always be lots available.

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 29/03/2024 22:46

Laura Gellor starts as a cream and it's baked on terracotta to dry .
Bare Minerals is a powder all through IIRC .

I've tried both though I don't wear foundation , I got some BM Mineral Veil (not the sparkly one) for if I want to make an effort.

I really like the LG blushers .
Look on QVC they often have a good colour range but it doesn't help when they say "If in doubt try Medium" though you can try and return things .

Good brush and bufffing is key , 2x Happy Birthday to You . (sing it in your head)

Yes I agree,it's great stuff. Recently discovered it and I'm usually a DW fan.

Darklane · 30/03/2024 12:38

Laura Geller Porcelain is very pale. It suits my deathly pallor & the palest shades in lots of brands are too dark for me. Fair is the next lightest if Porcelain is too light.

DrJoanAllenby · 30/03/2024 13:34

@ChishiyaBat the one I meant doesn't have a colour, it's a neutral powder that evens out skin gone and gets rid of redness.

I think you've used the bronzer which looks the same packaging but is very orange!

ChishiyaBat · 30/03/2024 14:18

@DrJoanAllenby no it was definitely the powder with the colour correcting flecks in it, I gave it to my friend and it was perfect for her, so it didn't go to waste.

NeedingCoffee · 31/03/2024 10:20

Ive bitten the bullet on the main LG site - they ship free to the UK apparently. Was immediately sent this code for 30% off a subsequent purchase. There’s a sale on anyway so might not actually mean anything but thought I’d post in case anyone else can use it.

@NeedingCoffee Many thanks for posting the code, I just used it , thank you

I did actually order back in November but it got lost in the post , they refunded me immediately. I had been humming and haa -ing about ordering again, been trying to use QVC but they are always out of stock, but this sale and your kindness of posting the code finally spurred me on. Actually went the whole hog, primer, foundation, blusher, brushes :)

adagio · 02/04/2024 22:11

I ordered from their us site after Christmas and it safely arrived / at the ‘paid for’ price (no extra tax or anything).
