Would boots be okay?

I’m going to a party at the weekend, taking place in a posh country house type hotel which will be attended by quite a wide range of ages. I’m in my sixties, overweight and slightly disabled which causes me some difficulty walking due to balance issues. I have a lovely, unstructured jersey material dress, which comes to mid-calf, and pretty matching jewellery and wrap. My problem is what to wear on my feet. I have heeled boots and shoes, both of which look nice with the dress, but my walking issues mean that the heels will make me very anxious and self-conscious. I have a very attractive (well in my opinion 😂) pair of patterned ‘Doc Martens’ type flat boots that actually go very well with the dress and would make me comfortable. I’m very concerned though - would this type of boot look completely inappropriate at a fairly formal event? I don’t get out much, so have very limited experience!
