Ok, I’m taking the plunge. I’m going to invest in one.

I am sick of spiky razor regrowth.

Just had a look on the Boots Website, a couple have a good reduction on them at the moment.

Are they worth it?

How lo g roughly until you noticed results?

Is it worth paying the extra for cordless?

Will it work for me? I am brunette, fairly dark leg hair.

Thanks!

Watching and placemarking as I'm considering one too.

lastchancesalmon · 26/03/2024 23:03

Just recently made the same decision. I decided no to cordless - all the reviews said it isn't worth it as it's designed for a one off hard to reach place not usual use. I don't regret that so far - easy to sit near a plug and wouldn't want to treat anywhere far from a socket. Have done 3 treatments underarm and legs. Very little hair underarms now, legs are sparse but still there. Shaving to remove what's left is super quick and superficial. I'm pleased with the result and looking forward to treating bikini line (decided to get some experience with other areas first) I bought on Amazon on the 5 month interest free deal, which helped.

Bringonthesunforthewashing · 26/03/2024 23:04

Also place marking. Has one for two years and scared to use it.

snazzychair · 26/03/2024 23:06

I recently looked into getting laser hair removal through a salon but it's so expensive so I'm thinking to get one of these too

Starlight19 · 26/03/2024 23:06

Oh great feedback @lastchancesalmon and good to know about the cordless.

Which model do you have? Just wondering what the difference on price is justifying.

Best thing ever. Got rid of all unwanted dark hair from underarms, bikini area and legs. About 7 years ago now. Can see the finest blonde hair on legs but not noticeable. I’m brunette. So wish this had been out when I was younger. Mine’s chargeable. No need to use it now- my daughter has had good results with it too. Followed all the instructions at the time - took a few months to see results I think?

Elfbeth · 26/03/2024 23:36

I have had the Lumea for 2 years now and just wish I had gotten it sooner. I use it for maintenance every few months when I remember.

Mine is corded and agree it’s not necessary to go for cordless as no big deal to use near a socket.

I hesitated too because it is a lot of money just to be done with shaving but it’s honestly been worth it. Good time to start too to be hairfree for summer!

Lumea 8000 -based on Mumsnet Sears by recommendations

theveryhungrybum · 27/03/2024 07:20

I've got one (corded) and it's fabulous. I think I've had it for about 18 months and I'm about 99% hair free where I have treated (legs, under arms, bikini line, upper lip). One of the best beauty products I've bought.

napody · 27/03/2024 07:53

Definitely get corded. It's not a drill, you won't be using it around the house and up the garden! The rechargeable batteries would go before the 'flashes' do which would be annoying.

I'm not great at remembering to use mine but it's still been great for my legs- only need to shave once a month or so. Also pale skin and brunette. The bikini line is persisting though! Will keep going.

Bearpawk · 27/03/2024 07:57

Yep, brilliant. Wish I had mine in my 20s it would have been completely life changing for me.
I don't use mine cordless because it slows it down.
Used it regularly for the first few months now I just do a couple of top ups every 6 months or so. I still get a few patchy hairs so I would shave before a holiday for example, but only the once and wouldn't need to shave every day on hol like I used to.

80skid · 27/03/2024 08:04

Placemarking. I almost started a similar thread last night - I bought one last year and saw very little to no results after 3-4 uses. I've decided to try again and see how it goes. Not sure how to tackle the tattoo issue though - it burns if I go over a tattoo so if it does work, I'll have a hairy patch !!!

JanewaysBun · 27/03/2024 08:06

I have had mine for 4 years. It's amazing! Really kills off the hair and I hardly ever top up now. I have the corded version and can't think why I would want the cordless tbh
Mine is BR1200

It works best on dark hair as the laser can "find it" easily

dullestofall · 27/03/2024 08:19

Oh great thread

Can anyone post links please?
And I see it is safe to use on your face too?
Do you need to let the hair grow some lengh before using it?

Elebag · 27/03/2024 08:24

Agree to not get cordless. Waste of time.
Mine is 3yrs old now and I always use it plugged in. Took almost a year to clear the hair. It's weird having smooth legs all the time now!

ColourByNumbers88 · 27/03/2024 08:57

Holder. Want to buy one too.

Kelvinator1 · 27/03/2024 09:57

Is it painful? I had in-salon laser years ago (10+ years) on my bikini line and it did hurt, wondering if that aspect of it has improved at all.....

snazzychair · 27/03/2024 10:04

I've been looking at which one to get all morning!
2 attachments, 4 attachments, 7000,8000,9000 series, all a bit confusing!

Those who have one, do you really need 4 different attachments?

SuncreamAndIceCream · 27/03/2024 10:11

The small attachments are helpful if you need to use it on your face but I just use the normal one for everything else.

I think it's great. I got a bit lazy about using it last year as the areas it worked on it really worked on and the areas it wasn't so good at I got bored with!

Legs are almost hairless now, apart from round my ankles and knees where it was tricky to get the right angle. My bikini line which seemed to be migrating down my thighs is back where it should be.

It's hardly done anything in my armpits though, and I wanted to try and remove a bit of hair round my pubic area and it hasn't done much with that. But those two areas do seem to have thicker hair than the others. I got it out again the other day and I'm going to try and give it a good go again before summer.

TwilightAb · 27/03/2024 10:14

One of the best things I have ever bought. I've always suffered with a hairy chin and it's taken a few treatments but has now all gone!

NugsNotDrugs · 27/03/2024 10:22

it is so good!
I have the cordless but I wouldn’t bother paying extra for it. I used mine in my bedroom so not far from a plug socket.
my advice is to do the the bikini area first and then the legs. I found that it gets a bit hot and uncomfortable if I’ve already done my legs and then move on to more sensitive areas.
for me (dark hair & pale skin) I noticed results from the first use.
Im excited for you!

tealandteal · 27/03/2024 10:27

I wouldn’t bother with the cordless, I use the main attachment and the face attachment. It does take quite a while to do the whole leg so I usually break it up in to two session.

buswankerz · 27/03/2024 10:38

I love mine, by about a month in the hair had come back a lot less, a year on I now have no leg hair and a very small patch of underarm hair.

The results for me have been amazing.

BridgetRandomfuck · 27/03/2024 10:41

Got my Lumea about 6 years ago - it has totally got rid of the hair on my legs, it just doesn't grow back! I give them a top up when I remember, maybe once every three months. It was worth every penny for me - I had thick dark hair on my legs and would have to shave daily in the summer. Now that's a distant memory! It was less successful on other areas - didn't work at all on my armpits so I gave up doing them. The face attachment was good too, only I had to stop using it once I got into retinol. I never found it painful, it can get a bit 'hot' feeling on occasion but I'd take that over the pain of waxing/epilating any day.

seasaltspray · 27/03/2024 10:41

Honestly, it didn't work for me. I've tried two over the years - followed the instructions to a T, had the right skin tone/hair colour - didn't make a jot of difference. I don't have PCOS or anything that I am aware of. I also had salon laser and it made no difference to anything bar my underarms. I must just have weapons-grade hair; it's really galling given the amount I've spent on it and the time and money I have to spend on other methods of hair removal.
