Ok, I’m taking the plunge. I’m going to invest in one.

I am sick of spiky razor regrowth.

Just had a look on the Boots Website, a couple have a good reduction on them at the moment.

Are they worth it?

How lo g roughly until you noticed results?

Is it worth paying the extra for cordless?

Will it work for me? I am brunette, fairly dark leg hair.

Thanks!

Got mine for Xmas and it's been amazing. For the first time in my life I have no bikini line and no rash! I used to get ankle stubble hours after shaving but it's just so slow to grow back. Underarms still there but it's very fine not spiky.

I've been using it religiously, currently on the once every weeks phase. I have the corded one, 2 attachments but I only use the big one.

I just stick a podcast on and spend about 45 mins - 1 hour doing everything. Pasty skin, darkish hair, would absolutely recommend.

*every 4 weeks, after the initial once a week for 4 I think?
Re pain, I keep it on 5 but go down to 2 or 3 on my undercarriage as that smarts like flip 🫣 but worth it for the results.

How frequently do you need to use it for results?
Will it work on very tough, black hair (white skin)?
Seriously not as painful as an epilator? I have no pain threshold at all, so am very nervous about trying it, but I use an epilator twice a week on my face and am used to that, so could cope if the lumea isn't as bad.

I have tough black facial hair on pale skin - it works - eventually

It wont touch those that are coming through white so I still have to epilate those

When I say eventually, I sit in front of a 15x mirror and spot the wee buggers popping up, use one of those fine facial blades and then zapp - about twice a week, takes all of two minutes

right now this minute, I can feel some stubble ( last done Tuesday ) but tomorrow when ive time I will find thats the white ones popping through, its not noticable to other people

The black hairs, when they do show up again are finer

And no it really is no where near as painful as epilating or threading. Sure you do feel something and now and then you get a wee sting but thats all

So, have just did my patch test all levels seemed ok. Any benefit to go with 5 over 4?

I did my test too last week and was ok at up to 4. I did my legs last night and I couldn't go over 2! Need to build up my pain threshold again!

It will work on tough black hair and white skin, but it will take longer. It took me a year to get good results. It's still cheaper and essentially hassle than waxing was.
The maintenance zaps don't hurt once all the hair has gone. I briefly do my legs every 2-3 weeks for approx 10 mins.

Elebag · 07/04/2024 09:23

*less hassle. No idea where essentially came from.

Can someone tell me their exact routine as I have had my corded one sitting in a box for 3 years but maybe this is the year!

Me too! Sat in a box with me doing nothing but staring at it!

What's the best routine to get into to make it work? Especially on legs and bikini.

Would shaving once a week followed by the lumea work well? Do you need to wait for the hairs to show for it to work? Do you use the lumea a few days in a row after shaving once the stubble is there, or do you trust the process that it's working? Not sure if I'm too impatient for it 😅

Notellinganyone · 07/04/2024 09:42

Absolutely. I bought one direct from Phillips where you can pay monthly- if you don’t like it you can send it back and if you do you pay it off over 12 months. I’m dark haired and fairly light skinned. It’s been brilliant on legs and bikini line. I now just do a light shave very infrequently. Slightly less successful on upper lip/ chin although still an improvement. Wish I’d bought it years ago.

There’s an app that tells you the schedule, gives instructions and sends you reminders.

Don't get the cordless one I got mine from Amazon and seemed next price I could find plus I like the returns you can get.
