In my experience they're spot on.

So would an 18 be an M&S 18 or more like a teenage brand 18?

I think they are slightly on the big side. They are like Next with generous sizing.

samestyle · 23/03/2024 11:19

I'd say it's more a generous size but I've only bought one dress from there, that was a few years ago and I still have it, go fit something that has a stretch to it rather than a dress that zips up. Roman is more marketed towards over 40s I'd say, so I wouldn't expect it to be cut for teenage bodies.

Fluffywabbits · 23/03/2024 11:20

I always find their tops tight over the bust despite fitting elsewhere so you may need to size up if large chested.

Februaryfeels · 23/03/2024 11:21

Their tops and dresses are try by to at.e but i think trousers are a little small

Februaryfeels · 23/03/2024 11:21

Try again

Tops and dresses are true to size

Trousers are a little small

suki1964 · 23/03/2024 12:10

I got a dress for a wedding in a size 14 and I was JUST a 14 ( losing weight ) it fitted like a dream. Now Im a large size 12 its a tad too big so Id say dress sizes are spot on

Funderthighs · 23/03/2024 12:12

I find them true to size.

Minikievs · 23/03/2024 12:13

I think they're true to size. Trousers especially. I have v small boobs though so maybe beware of pp point if you're quite busty

YYURYYUCICYYUR4ME · 23/03/2024 12:20

Sizing is about right, but they are often cut for a more womanly figure, so more forgiving in place.

Cheeesus · 23/03/2024 12:22

I would say true to size. I’m a 12-14 in most shops and I recently bought three things from them that were all 14s. Trousers, too, cardigan. They are all just right to slightly roomy.

GoodVibesHere · 23/03/2024 12:34

I find them large and shapeless on me unfortunately. I'm generally a size 10 and I like the look of their dresses but they just don't fit me properly, too much material at the waist so they don't look fitted or neat.

Roserunner · 23/03/2024 12:47

I got a dress for a wedding when I was a size 14 and had to get a 10 there. I am short so and it wasn't very fitted but I'd say they are quite generous.

HanaJane · 23/03/2024 12:50

Usually true to size for me too, I would say they cater for over 40s market so sizing reflects that (I'm 42 and a small size 14, usually fit a 14 there but occasionally need to size down to 12 so yeah about right)

Misthios · 23/03/2024 12:54

I have a size 16 dress from them, have recently lost weight and now a 14 in most shops, the dress is too big really although tunic style so it matters less. I'd say true to size.

Silvergreenblue · 23/03/2024 12:56

I had a pair of medium elastic trousers from there once and the sizing was very generous. The more fitted items are more true to size.

Thanks everyone.
Yes I suspected Roman clothes are targeted at the over 40s as that's what I am 😀
