58 and suddenly getting spots linked to rosacea

I'm hoping for some advice please.

I've had clear skin all of my life so have never worn make up and have used basic moisturisers.

I have just started getting spots in my T zone. I've had redness too and the GP has diagnosed rosacea, the kind that has spots.

I switched moisturiser initially, stopped entirely and am now using one by La Roche Posay which has rosacea on the label. I have used Rosalique on the days that I go into the office to cover up a bit. The spots just keep on coming.

Has anyone had this and did anything stop the spots? Help!

Me! The ONLY thing that has worked for me (and brilliantly) having tried pretty much everything, is azelaic acid. I used this one

Please, please check out Demodex mites, especially if you have spots with a low raised pus centre and maybe skin which seems ‘thin’/ fragile in affected areas. Ivermectin (Soolantra)will be your instant wonder cream if these mites turn out to be the problem.
my problem zone was T zone, because they overgrow in facial hair follicles like eyelashes/ brows and cause skin eruptions. Your optician will easily see if you have this issue, and the doc will take this as evidence to prescribe Ivermectin.

Demodex issues can present as rosacea

@DillDanding thank you for the recommendation. Where did you buy yours? And does it have instructions for use? I'm pretty useless!

@Gardenproud. I will book to see the optician and check for that. I've never heard of it. I'm due anyway so it's a good reminder.

@DillDanding. I've ordered online and should be here soon. Fingers crossed.

I want to add my voice to soolantra. I had rosacea spots for years and tried everything. Soolantra worked when nothing else did. It also didn't irritate my skin when lots of other creams and serums made me want to claw my face off. I got a prescription from the online superdrug pharmacy. After an initial purge (which I was warned about) it just kept getting better and better. Also my skin is no longer so sensitive and I can use other active ingredients now such as retinol which I couldn't before.

I hope it works. I’ve honestly tried everything else and this stuff is magic.

Ps I just applied it at night when I had a flare up. Haven’t had one for ages (I’ll get one now 😂)

I use The Ordinary azelaic acid cream. It works, but I have to use it daily. My rosacea has tiny spots otherwise.

@Gardenproud why do you suggest seeing an optician to check for demodex?

Because they are microscopic mites which cannot be seen with the naked eye. Your optician can look closely at the follicles to determine if there is an abnormally large number of mites present.

@DillDanding scared to tempt fate but the serum seems to be working. Thank you for the recommendation.
