If you’re over 40, which foundation?

Hi, I’m 42 and have those pesky ‘fine lines and wrinkles’ that inevitably find us all.
I’m just curious what foundation you use, if you’re in a similar age bracket, that doesn’t accentuate the crows feet!
thanks

Tinted moisturiser is your friend if you have fine lines and your foundation settles there.

I’ve got a nars one but I find the coverage of TMs to not be enough as I have uneven skin tone

None - I use Laura Mercier tinted moisturiser instead. Fantastic coverage and so lightweight

Unleashthehordes · 22/03/2024 01:22

Erborian cc cream
some or other Chanel goop that I can neither pronounce nor spell.

I think it’s the erborian that does the hard work in terms of uneven skin tone.

Chanel Les beiges water fresh complexion

decionsdecisions62 · 22/03/2024 03:11

Charlotte Tilbury for me and a Clinique ( tinted moisturiser) for days I don't want full foundation.

MyBigFatGreekSalad · 22/03/2024 03:22

I'm not over 40 however I used to suffer with really dry skin which meant every product clung to it and showed every dry patch!

Some great hydrating bases than blend really nicely are Laura mercier tinted moisturiser, mac face and body, IT cosmetics cc cream.

ADHDat43 · 22/03/2024 03:23

I use a mineral powder most days (Inika; never found one better) and for more formal or special occasions Charlotte Tilbury Airbrush Flawless foundation.

NailsHairNipsHeels · 22/03/2024 04:18

Laura mercier real flawless
It's very light weight and doesn't settle into any imperfections. I'm 41 and banished most wrinkles with Botox but the small amount I have aren't enhanced at all

HollyKnight · 22/03/2024 04:19

I gave up on foundation and switched to a primer and an Erborian BB Cream. A good skincare routine and good hydration helps.

TheOGCCL · 22/03/2024 09:06

Tinted moisturiser for me, I think wear the bare minimum of base as you get older. Some MUAs just put it in the centre of the face and blend out.

Pigtailsandall · 22/03/2024 09:14

I'm on the tinted moisturised group too! I've used Nars, which is my favourite, and Laura Mercier, which is my second favourite. Someone recommended a v expensive brand as amazing on the Liberty thread, and I'm keen to try it - I'll see if I can find it as I'll probably get it next.

If you have uneven skin tone, I'd work on balancing that first. I found Paula's Choice BHA 2% toner really helped. Then you won't need so much on top of your skin.

Erborian BB or Boots Hydraluminous

Quacking4it · 22/03/2024 09:19

I use jane iredale mineral pressed powder, I love it.

Levithecat · 22/03/2024 09:26

Also on the tinted - I love IT cosmetics ‘your skin but better’ cc+ cream. It lifts my skin without caking and makes it feel more luminous.
i use a teeny bit of something with more coverage under eye - currently a mac foundation.

loubd · 22/03/2024 09:30

tried them all and boots hydraluminous is the best. Very moisturising and more coverage than a tinted moisturiser but not thick or masky like some foundations for older skin.
My skin has felt
softer and in better condition since i started using it too and I had very dry menopausal skin before.

EasternStandard · 22/03/2024 09:31

I have Chantecaille future skin but I’m interested in hearing about other good ones

Sparkletastic · 22/03/2024 09:41

Erborian BB is the best product on my over 50 combination skin. Their tinted eye cream is also miraculous. It goes on white and initially looks scary but then magically and seamlessly sinks in, corrects, brightens and smooths under eye and then doesn't budge.

AliceMcK · 22/03/2024 09:49

I have a L’Oréal infallible for every day use and a L’Oréal infallible Matt one for more evening.

im trying tinted moisturisers at the moment, I tried the Nivea one as I used it in my 20s but as I’m pale I found it too dark and peels. I’ve just tried the Avon tinted moisturiser and I’m so so about it. As I said I’m pale and it’s suppose to blend with your skin colour which it dose but I need to still add colour onto it.

Im 49 this year,

Wednesdaysotherchild · 22/03/2024 09:50

Merit, with their serum underneath.

Fridaysgirl17 · 22/03/2024 09:56

I use the Maybelline superstay skin tint & it's fab, lightweight but has a lovely coverage, not too heavy, looks great on the skin, I'm 41 & have dry skin too & I've really enjoyed using it & feel great when I put it on,as any other foundations felt heavy,& just looked awful but this is great & very reasonably priced

BorderBelle · 22/03/2024 11:14

I use a light amount of Mac Studio Fix, but I don't put any foundation or concealer anywhere near the crows feet around my eyes. I think they look better left alone, without the risk of makeup gathering in them.

Olderthaniwas · 22/03/2024 13:58

Thanks everyone.
sadly I can’t have Botox again yet as I’m still BF.
I went for the Charlotte Tilbury Beautiful foundation(bought myself a brow pencil too!)

I use Erborian CC cream as a base as I have red cheeks, and then the BB cream over the top. I've tried lots of different foundations and they all look cakey and settle into creases, the Erborian is the only thing that gives me a smooth, flawless finish and I'm 50

saturnspinkhoop · 22/03/2024 16:07

There’s 25% off DCYPHER this weekend if you want to give them a try. They do foundation drops that you can mix with moisturiser. The products have good reviews. I’ve just placed an order.
