The mini trench like jacket came back in my local M&S in my size, tried it on and it didn’t look right. Tried a similar one on in H&M with the same result! Feel free to share your fashion woes!

Boiler suits.... love them...but i look like Michael myers in one 😁

henlake7 · 20/03/2024 11:17

Anything bodycon (for obvious wobbly reasons)
turtlenecks/high necks (I have a thing about anything tight on my neck)
Anything that shows my legs (unless somewhere is having 'knobbiest varicose veins' competition).

WDKUMUS · 20/03/2024 11:20

Knee length and above knee length skirts . My legs are like matchsticks and they look terrible on me.

PardonPauline · 20/03/2024 11:31

Jeans and trousers with a shirt/top tucked in.
My body is disproportionate, legs too long for my torso length.
I’d be interested to know how to get round this because leaving it untucked seems a bit dated.

I have the same problem and at 55 I don't think I will ever get it resolved! I'm 5ft 8 but long legs and no waist - add that to peri menopause bloat and nothing suits me. I'd love to be able to wear wrap dresses or floaty maxi things but they just look awful. Ditto anything remotely up to date. I need structure in everything to look half decent and those clothes are SO expensive I just live in mid-rise straight jeans and sweatshirts.

Anything with shoulder pads & high neck t shirts.
I have swimmers shoulders & a relatively short neck. So anything that cuts me off at the neck looks dreadful.

Almostwelsh · 20/03/2024 12:01

Anything that you can't wear a bra with. I'm a 30J.
Anything that shows my lower legs, as I have terrible varicose veins.

GettingStuffed · 20/03/2024 12:10

Knee high boots, I walk most places and have developed muscular calves.

A lot of shoes as I have wide feet and a high instep

HeadsShouldersTitsandArse · 20/03/2024 12:17

Anything that’s on trend.

I’m 5ft size 14 with 34H boobs and wide hips.
I cant go braless.

I can’t go strapless.

I cant go cropped because my bras and weight of my boobs push down on my skin and make me look flabby.

Mom jeans never fit because they either don’t fit over my hips, or sizing up gives me baggy fanny syndrome.

I can’t wear shorts, my thighs rub severely even with all the tricks, deodorant, talc, liquid talc ect.

Spaghetti straps, I need bras with straps and seeing bra straps isn’t fun.

As a petite, chunky legged, narrow shouldered pear: SO MANY things

Mini skirts and dresses
Short shorts
Crisp white shirts - drown me
Maxi skirts and dresses - love them but they are always too long
Blazers, parkas or anything hip length
Wide legged jeans - legs look even shorter
Skinny jeans - carrot effect
Those narrow pleated skirts, or bias cut - only for the straight up and down
Knee boots - calves too large
Anything oversized

So most of what’s in the shops then 😆

I can wear anything figure wise but a lot of colours look awful on me. Anything purple, mauve and many pink shades look awful on me.

I have the same proportions and can often do a mini tuck leaving some material ‘fluffed’ out or a French tuck. Mid rise jeans are the best for this if you can bloody find them. Don’t tell the fashionistas but I love a pair of cropped skinnies/slim fit for this in nicer weather!

Leather jackets look ridiculous on me. Shame as I t would bridge the gap perfectly between winter coat and denim jacket.

Lots of things, but the thing that annoys me the most is how dreadful a skirt and top looks on me. I’m really hourglass shaped with big boobs, and am also very short-waisted. No matter what kind of top I try, I just look like a sack of tatties tied in the middle. The right shaped dress looks good but separates look awful and I’ve tried so many times!

And actually, belted coats or similar look like I’m wearing a dressing gown, also due to my proportions.

I'm a similar shape. What I do is aim for skirts that sit on the hips, or below the waist. These are difficult to find, so another option is to buy a size up (eg if you're a 12, try a 14) and let the waistband slip lower. This works best if the skirt has a fairly straight shape, with a narrow waistband. And if it ends up being too baggy on the hips, or too long, get it taken in. If this works, it will lengthen the appearance of your body and avoid that awful feeling of being squeezed in half.
I also go for low waist jeans but they are almost impossible to find at the moment. High waist jeans practically come up to my bust, I hate them and they are everywhere!

asquideatingdough · 21/03/2024 20:19

Mini skirts. I have "athletic" thighs, broad knees and now also cellulite and spider veins. I could have worn them when I was a teen or in my 20s but that was in the 80s and 90s when only incredibly skinny long boy legs were considered attractive. I have envied women my whole life who can just throw on a miniskirt and look sporty and carefree.

tobee · 21/03/2024 22:01

Floaty dresses
I'd love to have some silver jeans, you know those baco foil type ones? But I think I'm too much of a tubster to wear them!!!

Grumblevision · 31/03/2024 06:06

Jeans have pretty much always given me stomach ache. And tights. I don't want to wear things that hurt me but... Yeah.
