Things you would love to wear but that don’t suit you?

The mini trench like jacket came back in my local M&S in my size, tried it on and it didn’t look right. Tried a similar one on in H&M with the same result! Feel free to share your fashion woes!

Long skirt - I'm tall, so should be able to get away with it, but I'm also a classic apple shape and just can't get them to look right!

Sleeveless shift dresses. I used to be pear shaped - so they were too tight on the hips and bagged on the bust. Now I'm fatly apple shaped and they are even less flattering.

I have friends who look simply elegant in this type of thing and I'm envious.

Dungarees. I live in the SW where everyone wears the Lucy and yak ones. They just do not suit me

I’m the same height as you and yes I agree! I kept walking on them and nearly face planting like Maggie from The Simpsons!

Jumpsuits. I look like a sack of spuds in them!!

Dungarees. And jumpsuits that don’t make me look like I am wearing pyjamas.

This one, yes! And midi dresses, for some reason their length makes my stomach even bigger

Vest tops! Although tall & slim, I am incredibly broad and I look even wider in any strappy tops, especially a vest! 💪

Anything from Me & Em - unfortunately I'm just not straight up and down-shaped with no boobs or hips. I keep ordering and returning from them - it never fits and I never learn.

Wide leg trousers

Blazers. I look like I'm playing dressing up.

A size 7, which isn't massive, but I think it's my proportions that make them look weird (I've got disproportionately skinny ankles and calves), kind of like they're way too big for me, if you see what I mean. Shame because Chelsea boots look very practical!

I can't wear cold shoulder tops, I have huge shoulders and upper body looks like a coat hanger.
When I bought dungarees I looked like a toddler.
Necklaces don't suit me at all.
I bought wide leg jeans but they make me look like a clown.
Converse, also feel like I have clown feet.
If shoes/boots lack a pointy shape at the toes, I look clunky and weird.
Biker boots make me look like one of the tweenies characters.
I like a poncho but ponchos don't like me. I have this romantic notion it will look demure and sophisticated but the reality is a short, fat, mexican in a cowboy film.
Can't wear hats of any sort. I just about get away with pom pom hats in winter but even then I look like a twat.

Shorts. I don’t know why as I can wear skirts (of different shapes) but something about my leg shape makes shorts look horrendous. Shame as I’d love
to wear them in the summer!

Cute slip dresses and little strappy tops, I have broad shoulders and they just look weird.

I’m 4’11 and busty. Anything high necked looks ridiculous as does anything frilly or with ruffles. Also strapless garments, I have good shoulders but pudgy arms with keratosis pilaris and I prefer to cover up. Maxi dresses look like I’ve nicked my mum’s nightie.

Lots of things, but the thing that annoys me the most is how dreadful a skirt and top looks on me. I’m really hourglass shaped with big boobs, and am also very short-waisted. No matter what kind of top I try, I just look like a sack of tatties tied in the middle. The right shaped dress looks good but separates look awful and I’ve tried so many times!

And actually, belted coats or similar look like I’m wearing a dressing gown, also due to my proportions.

Buy a midi dress and it is a maxi dress at our height. I use my tailor to take up hems quite a bit.

Trousers! They all look awful on me. I’d love to wear wide leg trousers, they just don’t suit my shape (and I’ve been a size 8 to a size 16, they never looked good). I’m only 1.6m so think that’s the main issue!

Blazers. Like someone else said, I look like I’m playing dress up. I do sometimes wear them to work though

Leggings. I’m just not toned enough. (Even though I wear the skinny jeans)!

Dungarees- horrific. Shirts/ blouses with a collar make me look like a fat man. Long skirts never look like they do in my head- I imagine elegant but the reality is deeply frumpy.
