I need a jacket to go with this dress for a wedding at the weekend!

I have a dress very similar to this, but midi-length.

I'm wearing white heels but have some burgundy flats to switch to. But it's March and I have no idea how to stay warm with this! Any suggestions?

If it was me I'd be looking at thermal base layers, a cardigan and boots! Sorry, not helpful I know.

umm get a warmer dress? You are going to freeze in that in March, jacket or no jacket.

Ginmonkeyagain · 18/03/2024 17:24

Ona more helpful note, I think you need a cardigan and a jacket, maybe with some wool or cashmere in it - a white one with gold buttons would be nice. Your problem is your legs. Flesh tone tights are not going to cut it in mid March, but thicker coloured opaque ones ( and I think you need at least 40 denier in this weather) are going to look odd with white heels and flimsy pale floral fabric.

I'd go with a Chanel-style knitted thing. There's a nice one with good buttons in M&S.

Thanks all, the dress I have I said was similar to that one, but a longer midi-length so my legs should be fine. The majority of the wedding is indoors so I don't mind being outdoors for a bit in a jacket or jacket/cardi combo. Will have a look at cardigans too, thanks!

Add a beautiful brooch and you'll be set

Also, I'd always go for a layered option so I can strip down for dancing later!

I mean it's going to be 9 degrees max in London on Saturday - no tights is certainly a decison I wouldn't make!

I like the boucle jacket ideas suggested above. Cotton cycling shorts worn under a floaty dress are a good shout for keeping you warm on a breezy day

PopQuizz · 21/03/2024 10:52

Ok I have a new cardigan, nice close knit so it is lovely and warm which I am happy to wear all day with the dress. Teamed with a olive green suede 'leather jacket' style jacket and an ivory scarf to wear outdoors when needed. I've got some seamless cycling shorts for under the dress too. Last step will be a little bit of a beer jacket and I'm set! Thanks all for the suggestions :)

This is beautiful though!

Sounds a bit daft but do you have a slip that you could wear underneath? Maybe something from another outfit that won't show out!
