Bras for the droopy bust

AzureBlue99 · 15/03/2024 17:48

I am a 38dd. I am losing weight and have a slim waist. My bust looks too big in that post menopausal matronly way - and they are further down than I would like.

I need a minimising bra, no padding or foam, ideally no lace, underwired and with really good hoiking them up capabilities.

Please suggest a bra make/style.

Are you sure that's the correct size?
If you have a slim waist are you sure you measure 38 under your bust?
I'm a size 20/22 and only wear a 36 back bra

AzureBlue99 · 15/03/2024 18:24

Think so. I have always had a slim waist in comparison to my bust and hips. Makes it awkward to buy dresses, I am always in separates.

I'm another vote for double checking you're in the correct size. What size top are you? If you've got a slim waist I'd be amazed if you were a 38, and the back band is where all the support comes from which would explain your struggles.

I thought I was a 38 back and turned out I should be in a 34, and I've now gone down to a 32.

Can you pull the band of your bra away from your back? Does it ride up?

CMOTDibbler · 15/03/2024 18:29

I'll bet good money that you aren't a 38dd. Especially the description of post menopausal matronly says your band isn't doing its work. What is your actual underbust measurement?

Thighdentitycrisis · 15/03/2024 18:39

I’m post menopause too and my boobs are disproportionately large compared to my waist back and hips, without a bra they’re near my waist! Try a smaller band size - I wear 30 F or G

I like side support underwired balconette bra’s that give a forward facing shape. The cup is made of 4 pieces I think
Freya and Fantasie work for me

EarthbarsforMartians · 15/03/2024 18:44

Balconnet style maybe? Weirdly they work well on droopier boobs and terribly on full-on-top boobs.

Bestyearever2024 · 15/03/2024 18:56

I thought I was a 38DD

Did the boob or bust measurement, and it said I'm a 30GG

MADNESS!

However, I tried multiple bras with multiple sizes, and I've discovered I'm a .....

34FF

It fits amazingly well. No need for underwiring or minimising

Rounded up and pointed forward..... perfect !

Moonshine5 · 15/03/2024 18:57

VS balconette

AzureBlue99 · 15/03/2024 22:23

I am going to do a measure tomorrow. I am a size 12-14 top.

Aria999 · 15/03/2024 23:25

lol you are totally going to end up with a push up plunge bra in 34G and look amazing 😊🤣

Keepingongoing · 16/03/2024 08:17

If you’re anywhere near one of the Bravissimo shops, I’d go there to be fitted. If that’s not possible, you can phone them and they’ll help you find your fit. They’re very helpful and take their time.

For good uplift, just getting a new bra can help as they lose their uplift capacity over time. But you must be in the right size. Bra sizes vary so wildly from bra to bra and brand to brand, you really need a fitting.

FenellaBestwick · 16/03/2024 08:31

I've been thinking the same OP. I'm a 30GG and my nipple position is 3 inches lower than pre kids. I need bras with steel girders built in and even then they kill my shoulders. The best fit I could find was Panache.

You're VERY unlikely to be a 38 if you're a size 12-14!

I'm a size 12-14 and I'm in a 30. M&S measure me as a 36F, a 30K actually fits a lot better...

Try here for measuring (you'll be shocked!): www.booborbust.com/, and I second the recommendation for Bravissimo. I'd bet something like a 32H would fit you a LOT better than what you're currently wearing.

Im a 12-14 and a 36 under bust so it's not impossible. I don't have a small waist and am short waisted, I also have rib flare from pregnancy which increases the measurement. You do need to correctly measure yourself though and find a bra shape that works with your body. I'm guessing you need to decrease band size and increase cup size.

I'm a size 10 but a 30? It was like some sort of torture 🤣 awful!

I do agree, though, with PP who say decrease the band and increase the cup. I'd have NEVER thought im an FF, but I am!

KrazyboutKillian · 16/03/2024 09:38

Again bravissimo , I’m a bit droopy too
I thought I was 38 dd but tried on lots and eventually got the Millie in a 38 f !! I have never been an f but it fits perfectly and the staff were great
( in my head the F stands for
fucking amazing boobs )

AnnaMagnani · 16/03/2024 09:45

I'm a size 14, definitely not slim built and a 34 back so I also doubt you are a 38.

Its difficult to measure cup size as mine now have to be poured into the bra so I think you will need to try on a lot to find your size.

Obviously I don't know what size you tried on, but it's still possible that with the correct size cup a 30 would fit you fine. I couldn't fit a 30H for example around me because my boobs would be squished into the band (hence the 30 band would feel awful!), but a 30K fits fine.

ApolloandDaphne · 16/03/2024 10:11

I'm a size 16/18 and I had a bra fitted. Thought I was a 40C. Turns out I am a 38FF. 36 in some makes. You really need to be fitted properly.

Thank you

The 30 GG was super tight

But the 34 FF seems to sit really well 🥰

Where did you get fitted?
My sides are small and my boobs are big so I'm about a 32 F but now considering 34F.
