Eyebrows at home rather than salon!

How do I maintain salon brows at home?
Does anyone else still pluck their brows into shape?
Any recommendations for a good tint?

I get my browns tinted and waxed at a salon. They look great with a nice clean sharp outline. I contemplated micorblading but decided it's not for me.

But I want to go more low maintenance and do more at home

They are very fine and soft hair nkt much substance. When they are dyed they look much fuller as lots of tiny hairs pick up colour. But then need a good shape as look like hairy caterpillars.

I've tried tinting using eyelids dybrow and it's fine but lasted only a week and so many of my tiny fine hair came up I needed to pluck my brows and had flash back to the 90s

For dyeing my eyebrows, I use Eylure Dybrow dye kits, but have recently bought KISS "Bring the salon home" and that works too

Limited range of colours - Brown, Dark Brown and Black

Amazon, Superdrug, Boots etc...

Watching.

Weirdly since having my daughter, eyebrow dye basically just won't stay on my eyebrows. I've tried home kits and gone to salon. It all comes off within a day or two.

Is it me or has the formulas in the dyes changed?!

Anyway I find it a massive faff filling in my eyebrows everyday. I have very fair eyebrows so I look a bit dead without colouring them in but I'm not great at it...

I gave up getting mine threaded. I reckon that stretching the skin taut for the process isn't good for my nearly 64 yr old eye area.

My brows and lashes are also very fair and I found that mine stopped taking salon dye about 4 years ago?! Definitely something to do with a change in formula. After googling, I started buying refectocil on Amazon (you'll need developer also) and it DOES work.

53, have shaped my own brows with tweezers and filled in with pencil, (and more recently suqqu ink pen) since I was a teen. Still do but now they need much less plucking and a bit more filling in.

The thought of allowing someone else near my brows makes my blood run cold. I like to be in control!

I find the 'old style' brow kits with a tube of dye and a bottle of peroxide are better than anything

They used to be standard for brows and lashes, but lash dye kits now have some silver nitrate formula which runs into my eyes.

I still use the old style for eyelashes 🤫

I use Godefroy from amazon as had a reaction to an allergic test on others. I usually put it on for maximum time plus a bit because my greys are stubborn.

Threads on here before have recommended men's beard dye as being longer lasting for some reason.

I mean no one seems to know why it lasts longer

My eyebrows are super blond and I use Just For Men beard dye.

It's pretty idiot-proof! It doesn't stain the skin but gives a good colour. The tubes last for a few applications too.

Soccermumamir · 16/03/2024 15:57

I use tattoo brow by Maybelline

Isabelle70 · 16/03/2024 16:40

I use Refectocil to tint my brows at home with light brown and then every 3 months at the salon for threading.

Which colour do you use please?

ScarletWitchM · 16/03/2024 16:51

I use the Eylure kits as the Maybeline colours just don’t match for me. The Eyelure one lasts about a week on me with daily showers etc.
I haven’t tried it myself, but I’ve seen on social media people recommend using men’s beard dyes for eyebrows which come in a range of colours and are longer lasting

HelpMeOutOfHere · 16/03/2024 18:11

@JobMatch3000 I use medium dark brown.

It was an absolute revelation during lockdown and I'd never go back to the salon for tinting now.

thedendrochronologist · 16/03/2024 19:51

Thanks everyone - I think my problem is expecting it to last 4 weeeks!

I'll just finish off this eyelure and do it every week. Then look for a salon formula one. Would like decent glass dish for mixing and a better brush too

I have been dying my eyebrows for years as I have sparse and fair ones. I've tried many many brands and can't find any that last more than 4 or 5 days. I've even tried the men's beard one recently and still the same. I guess it doesn't grab my brows enough. Although at first I look like I've taken a sharpie to them 😂 For a couple of years I've also used an oil to help thicken them and I'm sure that has worked to a degree but still no miracle. I remember the old days as a young twenty something (I'm 51) when all there was to use was a pencil and I used to hate going swimming in case my eyebrows came off. I sometimes used waterproof mascara too. Having darker eyebrows makes such a difference to my appearance from looking deathly ill to reasonably healthy 😂
