Why do so many boots have plastic heels!?

Hi all,

I always find when I am looking for a new pair of boots that atleast half the options have a plastic heel - not the main part of the sole, just the heel section. They make the boots very slippery and uncomfortable to walk in. I generally buy a good quality leather boot but I still find this issue (price range £100-200, Clarks etc.)

Can anyone explain why they do this, or atleast if there's any trick to make the sole walkable?

Because they're mass produced junk.
I find the same and struggle to get a decent pair of boots anywhere.

If you really like them, you could get them reheeled. Annoying though, I agree.
