What is everyone wearing this spring to go with jeans / trousers?

Tops that I have picked up from charity shops including a boho frilly affair originally from River Island.

Cinnamonamonamon · 12/03/2024 12:54

I'm eyeing some wide leg jeans on Vinted atm. I think shorter, boxer tops might go best with those? Can't decide though so I'll watch this with interest!

Starlightstargazer · 12/03/2024 19:11

I’m feeling really old and frumpy at the moment so need a bit of a revamp!

@Cinnamonamonamon My favourite jeans at the moment are wide leg jeans that are both cropped and full length and I tend to wear them with tops that fit closer to the body however I do love wearing them with my Whistles PJ style top that is very boxy. @Starlightstargazer Consider the second hand route as you will be able to pick up some nice things for not much that you can donate back when you get bored.

I have some lovely t-shirts I bought last year, some were from Temu and some I bought in Antigua. I also have a very unusual one from Spam Bristol

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 12/03/2024 22:29

I’m in Scotland and it is still bloody freezing. Sweatshirts and cardis here once we get past knitwear. I bought an Anine Bing sweatshirt on Vinted, a nice grey marl one from &OtherStories, and a very cheap butter yellow one from New Look.

I have been buying good crew neck tees over the last few months, mainly white but also a grey marl one, which I will be wearing with cardigans.

I’m favouring Levi’s 90s 501 and baggy dad jeans at the mo, so wide leg, and can’t wait for it to be warm enough for Birkenstock Bostons.

Starlightstargazer · 13/03/2024 00:11

Thank you for all the great suggestions!

I'd probably go for the purple in the knitted tops. There's also a nice red long sleeved Arket top. A lot of the &OtherStories things I saw are ridiculously overpriced. The metallic blouse, I had a similar non metallic top I think over lockdown from Arket and it's one of my faves.

There really isn't much I like though and I'd like to burn all the knitted vests which are in...

The other thing I'd say, @Workingmytickettoparadise anytime I've bought or seen anything from River Island it's been very synthetic and just not nice. But I could be being a snob about this.

Workingmytickettoparadise · 13/03/2024 16:50

@Gonnagetgoingreturnsagain They do have lots of synthetics however some people might be ok with that.

rhiannon1967 · 13/03/2024 20:17

Personally I think just a classic oversized shirt looks great.

Otherwise I just have a stack of plain white crew neck t-shirts which then work whether I wear a blazer, a denim jacket, a knitted hoody, a bomber jacket etc. You can always dress them up with jewellery.

I also love a band tee.

Imfreetofeelgood · 14/03/2024 03:12

I'm menopausal and suffering with the heat even now, so I'm prepared. I've bought cap sleeve cotton t shirts in every colour frim neutrals to brights. I also have a good supply of Love and Roses T shirts in different patterns. I WILL be cool 😂 i have casual blazers in different colours and coloured denim jackets and coloured biker jackets if needed. T shirt dresses in different lengths and styles for desperate days. Casual will rule - I've just took early retirement from a uniformed job. I wear lots of different styles of jeans and stocked up on chunky sandals and trainers, and bags, in a variety of colours.

Clarinet1 · 14/03/2024 14:12

One of my favourite summer looks is jeans (I have various cuts and shades) and some sort of white top - I have a couple of broderie anglaise/embroidery ones similar to
the River Island one above but from Fat Face, a big oversized shirt from Arket and several T shirts from everywhere from Sainsbury’s Tu to Fat Face and Joules.
On my feet I tend to go for trainers, plimsoles or sandals with a bit of decoration e.g. flowers.

Easipeelerie · 14/03/2024 21:40

I was hoping you meant spring as in colour analysis. I’m a spring and I can’t find anything. I was hoping being in actual spring right now , there might be lots of citrusy, zingy looking going out tips and blouses but there are literally none, not even in the homes of colour like Bonas or Anthropologie.

Lovemycat2023 · 14/03/2024 21:55

I like the idea of PJ style tops mentioned above - they dress up the jeans and great for the pub. Anyone got any specific recommendations?
