Help!! Wedding outfit

Hi I've been invited to a POSH wedding in early spring and it will be cold! I spend all my days working from home and need some serious ideas of how to pull off looking decent.

I am prepared to put a good budget behind the outfit but I realise I need a coat, bag, shoes and everything which would end up costing a fortune!!

Any ideas of how to put a really beautiful dress with a coat that still makes it look stylish and bag, jewellery etc?

Oh I don't know where to start! 😩

When I went to a cold wedding I wore a maxi dress with thermal leggings underneath.

Thank you

FYI I think I need style advice rather than warmth advice.. have no clue on where to start with an outfit

Unless the entire event is taking place outdoors I wouldn't bother allocating part of your budget towards a coat, unless your budget is unlimited and/or you want a new coat. You need a coat to get to the venue or venues but you're not going to be wearing a coat at the reception.

So far as anything else with no specific budget nor any indication of what you might like, it's a bit random.

I've got a wedding in July and I'm thinking of this dress. I already have it in sky blue pink cotton and I love it. So far as jewellery I have a lot of Victorian and Edwardian jewellery and some good modern stuff but I don't particularly pair jewellery with outfits.

So far as bags, any small, neat, unobtrusive leather bag, of which I have several by Radley, will do. The dress is the main event. Same with shoes- there will be something suitable in my wardrobe

I mean you could look on the usual suspects of LK Bennett, Hobbs, Monsoon, Phase Eight or Reiss. I'm not posting links for them as you can easily find them.

Or if higher budget, Susannah , not my cup of tea but they fit the bill.

Instead of black shoes you could have pop of colour and have pink heels.

Thanks for the advice. I like some of those erdem ones so will take a look at that. I hadn't heard of it. Not keen on susannah either..

Yeah it IS outdoors in a cold cold place so do need a coat as part of the outfit!

I'm wondering actually if I could hire one and a bag?

What do you like? Colours fabrics etc?
What are you like? Tall, short, busty, thin, chubby etc?

And the whole wedding will be outdoors?

PlumPeony · 08/03/2024 17:55

Get a coat from vinted -black long coat, should go with everything. When you know about dress, you could probably find a bag from there as well, or high street has some good evening bags at a reasonable price.

So I'm not sure what I like but I love quality fabrics and unusual prints I think. I just love quality but don't buy much as never go anywhere. So for example I love Me and Em and like this one

But maybe it's a bit drab?

I'm only 5 foot 3 and a size 10 - very flat chested but big bum!

I thought I could buy a coat on vinted.. so good idea to the other poster - thank you xx

You could rent a coat - I'd look for a really good brand like Max Mara so you know the cut will be good. Advantage of renting is that you could go for a more fun colour than if you were buying - this one would be good over the Me& Em dress - although I'd be wary of Me & Em quality these days I had one where the seam frayed the first time I wore it and the same happened with the replacement.... https://byrotation.com/products/max-mara-pink-coats-clp1egljr006jrf0scwe7ta2r

More formal weddingy type https://byrotation.com/products/max-mara-gold-coats-cla0yzroz00054uue0afg094y

Or a more stand out color https://byrotation.com/products/max-mara-red-coats-ck2eoubj7a6wt0746kbensrss

Nice ideas London mummy thank you. Yep love the idea of renting some stuff. Means I can go way more luxe with my budget and I won't wear again anyway xx
