My sideburns ruin a ponytail

unlikelychump · 03/03/2024 12:19

I never really wear my hair in a ponytail because my sideys get in the way JD it looking good. Even if I get the longer bits out the way they are still pretty dark for the shirt bits abs whenever I catch a glimpse of them they are all on show

What do I do about this, please? I'm trying to make more effort with my appearance

you need to do a tighter ponytail I'd put the side bits behind your ears and either hairspray or gel and kirbygrip.

PiggieWig · 03/03/2024 12:25

Tuck them behind your ears?

Mrsjayy · 03/03/2024 12:27

.your glasses should keep the hair tucked in too.

thedevilinablackdress · 03/03/2024 12:46

I think that looks nice. I prefer a softer look than all pulled back.

unlikelychump · 03/03/2024 12:51

Thanks for nice comments, I think it looks scruffy. Glasses don't help, Kirby grips is an option, I could try that. I don't want to look like a primary school child though!

I have these. I wax them away and prior to that use a hair grip to pin them out of the way

Theredfoxfliesatmidnight · 03/03/2024 13:12

Little hair grips on each side would make it look neater. But the "undone" look looks nice as well

Mrsjayy · 03/03/2024 13:13

you can get grips that you can't really notice I don't think you will look like you are in primary school, I wear.my hair up a lot and the more I brush the sides the more it stays in place behind my ears

rainbowbee · 03/03/2024 13:28

Tuck what you can behind your ear and seal with spray. You can also wax off any excess. I have a frizzy curl on both sides of the back of my neck quite low down and either I or the hairdresser just shaves them away.

I have the answer to this

You need to use a gel but one that does not dry hard but sort of soft

One that people would use with very curly hair to tame it when they do ponytails

You only need to add it to the front or sides or wherever you need on your ponytail

This from Superdrug or wherever

This product for sure. Its like a mascara wand for all the wispy bits and doesnt dry hard/crispy like a hair gel.
