A trendy longline waterproof coat? Sweaty Betty too expensive

I’m in love with the Lululemon Rain Rebel coat or the Sweaty Betty Align or Long coat but at almost £200 for a bloody rain coat?! No way. It’s polyester and made in China.

Please can all the dupe clever clogs people tell me where I can find a proper waterproof ( not ‘water resistant’ or showerproof) knee length city coat that won’t make me look like a geek?

Protected Species ones are rather wonderful (and i think you used to get a mumsnet discount 🤔) but are still a tad spendy..

I think you need to splash the cash. I have two protected species coats. Still look like new and six years old. Did get them via a Mumsnet discount code.

The Sweaty Betty Nimbus is the best coat I have ever had. Timeless - which, given the price, it needs to be. I will wear it forever. Warm, well cut, properly waterproof. Have had it for several years, still looks brand new.

I have the Helly Hansen Lisburn and it's fab. It's £160.

never heard of Protected Species so will check it out! Funnily enough I don’t get along with my Rains rubber jacket. I looks good but with poppers, no zip, no adjustable cuffs it’s a get-rained-on jacket
