I have the dress below to wear this Thursday but am stuck as to what colour tights/ cardigan to wear with it and also if a petticoat would be a good idea, will just be wearing trainers on my feet - thanks

not trying to be anyone just wearing the dress as I work in a school office - so just wondered what colour would go with as I normally just wear trousers and jumpers in black

Thank you for all your lovely comments , will get some orange tights and def need a cardigan as no heating in my office , will be reading extracts from the books to the nursery class and reception class, Am so excited to be wearing it.

Are the kids dressing up? If not it seems a bit much for an office. Personally I'd wear thick black tights with it

Carrotofpeace - we all dress up , it's a very small rural school, have done Goldilocks and the 3 bears, Cinderella and the ugly sisters, Heidi, Laura from Little House on the Prairie amongst others , but nearing 60 now have decided to wear a dress this year , plus have a teams meeting as well

Orange, green or brown tights would work. The dress is so nice. You'll look fabulous and it's such a fun day at school.

That dress is fabulous, so versatile to wear again rather than a costume.
I'd probably go blue but hard to tell how big the print is, so if larger maybe choose another colour for a contrast.
Think a petticoat would be too much in a school situation.

For tights, any colour which appears on the dress.

If by petticoat you mean a 50s net petticoat, that's too much. If you just mean an underslip, yes definitely.

If you needed a cardigan for future wear these are intended to wear over that style of dress.

That dress looks fab but one be really surprised if the manufacturer/fabric designer had paid for the rights to use all those illustrations- I can see Gruffalo, Hungry Caterpillar, Tiger who came to Tea and Elmer. Are you OK with authors being ripped off?
