Can someone help me with dressing for a work event I'm hosting

I work in a creative industry and I'm going to be hosting a session in person to our International team and want to feel good clothes wise . I'm very much normally jeans and blouse or jumper and converse / Adidas Sambas so i want something to elevate my normal look rather than look totally different. I really want some good trousers but still to feel cool rather than totally corporate (if that makes sense). Or a new oversized blazer. Shoes - I really like ballet flats and mary janes but not sure they're very me

I really like Arket, Cos, Andotherstories, YMC, APC & Ganni (strictly via Depop or Vinted as too expensive for me new).

I'm early 40s, 5 8 and size 12.

Please help :)

Thank you

Wide leg black trousers, a top or blouse, blazer and brogues?
I think a jacket or blazer that's a different colour to your trousers looks less corporate than one that matches. Or just a jumper or top & cardigan instead of a blazer.

If you’re going to be buying pre-owned I’d suggest looking for pieces by:

Sofie D’Hoore - great colours
Studio Nicholson - neutrals
Toteme - more neutrals

They each do fantastic shapes in sometimes stupendous fabrics - still essentially trousers, shirts, jumpers, just better cut and more distinct than the High Street. (Consequently more expensive.)

Margaret Howell is also worth considering - but very quiet clothes that don’t fit or suit everybody.

None of these really go out of fashion - they tend to transcend it, and will last for aeons. (While making you look cool.)

Thank you - these are great suggestions.
