clubbing - what to wear?

GloriaMumble · 25/03/2008 09:17

A friend is having her hen do next week and part of it is a cheesy nightclub in London. What should I wear? Its years (literally) since I went "clubbing" I have no idea what's the right look.

I'm large of nork and hate my upper arms. Legs not too bad. I want to look funky but not mdl... but equally don't want to look like an embarassing parent! ... Help!

GloriaMumble · 25/03/2008 09:25

good god, legs not good enough for shorts - I said "not too bad" not "bloody marvellous"!

Please someone help - I like cheesy music, I like dancing, I want to go, I just need a fairy godmother to wave a wand

what about one of those empire line floaty dress things that are out at the moment? good for big boobs.

GloriaMumble · 25/03/2008 09:31

empire line - is that the shape that has a seam under the bust? If so, my norks are too big to fit above the seam unless I buy a huge size and that makes me look like I'm wearing a tent.

So you don't think a dress is too dressy? If not, that gives me a starting point.
please keep suggestions coming

Hi,

This dress is specially made for big norkies and I think it is dressy and wearable again afterwards iyswim.

norks will be happy dress

BalletMum · 25/03/2008 09:42

I think that dress it too dressy for clubbing. But must admit I am no expert!!!! Why not black trousers and subtle top but killer sparkly shoes!! Always a safe bet! Trendy but dignified!!!!

GloriaMumble · 25/03/2008 09:43

ooo, that dress is lovely! Isn't it more of a prom dress rather than a cheesy nightclub dress though? I think I'd feel too overdressed in that - would LOVE an occaision to wear it though.

Oh ffs - I was a goth in the days when I used to go clubbing regularly and I didn't care what anyone thought, where has my confidence gone? Maybe cod's right and dressing gown and slippers is the way forward (depressed)

Do not wear a dress like that clubbing.

Either, as cod said, a short dress/skirt, leggings and heals ar nice jeans with a going-out top. Nothing too fancy.

GloriaMumble · 25/03/2008 09:54

short dress/leggings or trousers/top with kick ass shoes sounds like my style. Thing is what sort of top/dress? I really am a hopeless case, any chance of some example links?

I'm the same everytime I go shopping, whatever I intend to get, I end up buying boring jersey v necks that are by no means funky!

lots of nice dresses around in new look etc. at the moment.

For tops I usually go for camisol-type tops with lacy details on them, but I have fried eggs for norks, not sure what styles work best for larger norks()

OverMyDeadBody · 25/03/2008 10:04

Do you like tops like this?

GloriaMumble · 25/03/2008 10:08

ok. Will head to new look this afternoon. Are jeans ok for clubbing? Loads of places years ago used to say "no jeans" am I so far behind the times that jeans are ok now? Course that then begs the question of where to buy nice jeans (have only 1 pair of everyday jeans so not suitable). I have a feeling I should have started this project further in advance

BalletMum · 25/03/2008 10:10

Ohh, I love that top...fried eggs here too!!!

Heathcliffscathy · 25/03/2008 10:12

dress down dress down dress down dress down.

otherwise you will look like a mum who hasn't been clubbing for ages.....oh whoops!

seriously, dress for heat (will be hot in there) and dress down....

GloriaMumble · 25/03/2008 10:13

yes, I like that top a lot. Bit concerned about uncovered arms. Maybe with the little Cardigan on the same page... Love the skinny jeans too but l think I'm supposed to wear bootlegs to "balance my shape"

jesus wept don't wear the dress in the link.

please.

not for clubbing.

switch on mtv. look at scenes of clubbing.

lots of jeans, croppy trews with little tops.

dress for what you're doing....easy to dance in, won't get too hot...

BalletMum · 25/03/2008 10:14

What about a bustier type top. Boned and strapless. Will look for a link....

BalletMum · 25/03/2008 10:15

here

Heathcliffscathy · 25/03/2008 10:15

no no no....comfort is key...comfort and sexiness...nothing overthetop imo.

agree with little dress over leggings...

Pesha · 25/03/2008 10:15

Something like this? With smart dark jeans or trousers and then the killer heels and accessories to liven it up a bit. A wide, low belt perhaps and theres lots of nice cheap jewellery in new look, bay trading, top shop etc. Oh and a nice little bag.

Although not sure belt would work with that top?! But would work with a sort of vest/cami top and a shrug if you're not keen on your arms. Bit of sparkle perhaps in the shrug and the belt. But nothing too flashy and over the top!
