I saw these in TU yesterday and liked and admired both, but for me they wouldn’t work because I find those pleated skirts just never sit right. If someone was wearing them at work I’d like them and say so (and feel secretly annoyed that they don’t suit me)

Nonewclothes2024 · 28/02/2024 07:34

I like the first and third. The second one not so much and it looks awful with those shoes.

MurielThrockmorton · 28/02/2024 07:42

I've just realised I looked at them in reverse order and it's the first that I saw in a magazine and bought!

Attictroll · 28/02/2024 07:52

I have similar and get loads of wear out of them. Particularly like the 2nd in first post...wear them with boots and jumper for work in winter. Have been to a gallery or theatre in summer with t-shirt and trainers. I'm now tempted 😊 some tu stuff is better quality than others I click and collect then return once tested at home!

Roystonv · 28/02/2024 08:01

First one for me - has an expensive vibe, second looks cheap - animal print always does that for me, third totally different look - more holiday vibe/GB heatwave! Are all of them that thin/floaty?

reluctantbrit · 28/02/2024 08:11

I like the second one but for me it would depends how heavy the fabric is. I don't like flimsy ones.

TheYearOfSmallThings · 28/02/2024 09:41

I like the first two but not the third. It's not the sort of thing I wear for work, but I'm a different workplace I would.

Lurkingandlearning · 28/02/2024 09:48

The navy one looks a bit tatty, like it’s already been washed a gazillion times. The patterned one is nice.

It wouldn’t suit me 😞 because I’m not tall and slender like the model.

Not tried third one. First two are actually quite thick material pleated and with another layer underneath.

Reader I’ve ordered the second one!

Yay! It is lovely.

I really like both and looked at them last week but looked too long for me as i’m only 5ft2.

What footwear would you wear with them OP?

Edited

I'd just wear biker, chelsea or a black suede western boot with a small heel. They'd work then with your height.

Bloody gorgeous. Keep them and wear them in and out of the office.

Thank you! This is what I wanted to hear. I'm in the office 2 days a week so potentially I want something I can wear to drinks/dinner afterwards. And at weekends too if I want to do smart/casual.

I like both the first two but not the navy one.

Are they both the same length? The green one seems particularly long, the reviews have commented on this.

Both exactly same length to me. I'm 5ft4.5 (I say 5ft5) and they don't seem that long to me at all. I do have a longer body and fairly long legs if that makes sense. It's a bloody PITA to find trousers/jeans that really fit well.

I saw the second in a magazine, maybe the Sunday Times, a few weeks ago and I liked it then so I've just bought it now! The reviews do say it's quite long though, so at 5 foot 5 you might find it's too long for you.

It's fine the length for me even without a small heel!

It depends, does your wardrobe veer to plain top, colourful bottoms or colourful top, plain bottoms?

I'm the second and so would have very little to wear them with.

But they are lovely.

My wardrobe is probably plain top colourful bottoms side. So yes, could wear a lot with them. My fave so far is the first.

I now have the second one in my basket. Should it still be there when 25% off drops (though who knows when) then it’s for me. I would put it away for autumn/winter with a black jumper and boots.

They seem to have got more stingy with the 25% off discounts lately I've found.

Yay! It is lovely.

I had to restrain myself from ordering both! Thank you for making me aware of this lovely skirt.

I will wear mine with a pair of brogues or ankle boots and either a fitted jumper or a t shirt with a big slouchy cardi. Pleated skirts are so versatile as with a cropped jacket they are also very smart and corporate.

I bought a pleated dress from George a few years back and have worn it to death!

No worries - you are more than welcome!

I actually last year or year before got 2 great dresses in Peacocks of all places - knee length or just above knee in a nice warmer stretchy fabric with long sleeves and great prints - I got one for me and one for SIL, mine was in black with green print and hers in black with a brown print, sort of a floral/leaf larger print. I got loads of compliments on mine (as it looked more expensive) and SIL did with hers and she wore it when pregnant as stretchy! The great thing about the dresses is cardis, jackets, jumpers can all go with them, plus tights/boots etc and they're smart enough for work or after work/weekends.

I got a nice pleated floral skirt from Tu last year too - has colours in it so you can wear lilac/light purple jumper with it, or smarter black one, t-shirt etc.

Prices for both were great - one of the dresses the fastening for the button at the back was broken so I got money off and ended up paying £18 for it! And I only bought it as saw the SA in Peacocks wearing it and it looked so good on her!

I'm 50 and wear a lot of Tu clothes.

I really like the first skirt (might be how they have styled it) and I also like the second but not the nave one. Unfortunately I'm 5ft 3 so they are too long on me.

teaandtoastwithmarmite · 28/02/2024 11:38

I think they're nice but I hate TU clothing as it always seems to wear out quick for me

teaandtoastwithmarmite · 28/02/2024 11:41

I have this one from Roman and get loads of compliments

Emma8888 · 28/02/2024 11:48

I think the first looks decent, but not the second two. I also wouldn't wear a top tucked in like in the photos, the waistband makes it look cheap - something that covers it would look a lot better.

Tu clothing for me is fine for the price and doesn’t wear out that quickly. But agree have to mix it with more expensive clothes.
