Best foundation for a 40 something?

RMWIFE · 25/02/2024 15:16

I’m in my early 40’s - and my skin is changing šŸ™ˆ.
I used to use a Benefit foundation and then No 7. Please can someone recommend an amazing foundation. Due to bad skin in my teens and 20’s I have lots of pores. I also have an uneven skin tone with redness and now my skin is getting drier. I’m happy to spend for a great product.
Many thanks.

I'm a similar age. I was using Eborian but needed something with more coverage and a bit more substantial. I'm using L'Oreal True Match at the moment and it seems to be doing the job.

Ooh like OP I am in my 40s and I really am interested in this . I have used EstĆ©e Lauder double wear for years but lately it doesn’t seem to be doing the trick… drying and no longer sitting right, bit cakey or not enough coverage… can’t seem to win!

Reddota · 25/02/2024 15:56

Following because same! I have always used double wear, doesn't look right anymore, have tried nars and Giorgio Armani with no success. L'OrƩal true match has been the best but I still don't find it great... Would love someone to suggest a holy grail!

Waitingforgodot · 25/02/2024 20:19

I'm the same. I use L'oreal true match but I'm about to try Il Makiage as their concealer is amazing!

Clinique Even Better Glow is working for me. I've had to give up my tinted moisturisers/BB creams as they just sit on top on my skin these days.

Comefromaway · 25/02/2024 21:00

EstƩe Lauder Hydra Rescue.

I recently switched from YSL & LancĆ“me and it’s great.

I second this, Don't you find its getting expensive now though?

MrsPelligrinoPetrichor · 26/02/2024 18:59

Hydra Rescue is brilliant for Double Wear fans.

Workingmytickettoparadise · 26/02/2024 19:58

I used to use Even Better Glow and it came to the point where it didn’t look right. I now use a Chanel Les Beiges https://www.chanel.com/gb/makeup/p/184566/les-beiges-water-fresh-complexion-touch-even-illuminate-hydrate/ however I have pretty unremarkable skin and wear it on top of a Bourjois Healthy Mix primer when I remember.

Ultravox · 26/02/2024 20:09

I also have lots of large pores and acne scarring as well from my teenage years. I recently switched from Double wear (after using it for 20 years!) for the same reasons and I’m now using Dior Forever (the matte one) with Porefessional primer. They give a great cover and last for ages.

Very interested in the Hydra Rescue though…Might try that next!

I'm 49 and have recently bought some Jone's Road What The Foundation and some miracle balm. The foundation is so lovely. It's light coverage but looks really lovely and dewy on. My skin is dry with red patches and I look so much better with this on than anything else I've used recently.

Liveandforget · 26/02/2024 20:15

Yes to the estee lauder futurist hydra rescue one, beautiful finish and lasts and wears well, just getting ridiculously expensive now.

Paddingtonthebear · 26/02/2024 20:20

Is EL all still heavily perfumed?

Does anyone know if this one works ok for acne prone skin?

TheChosenTwo · 26/02/2024 20:23

I love the CT beautiful skin foundation, you couldn’t build it up but I use it and really sheer it out and it’s practically undetectable, very dewy and leaves me with a gorgeous luminosity. My skin gets oilier throughout the day but this just looks so fresh. I’m a much bigger fan than I expected to be when I bought it.
