If I want swishy shiny hair tomorrow, what can I do tonight to make it so?

I have long dark hair with lots of grey that is a bit frizzy.

I've got a bathroom cupboard full of various oils, creams and potions. What's the best thing I can slather on tonight then wash out tomorrow to leave me with glossy locks?

Hair mask?
Lots of conditioner and some serum?

You have described my hair.
In 'shiny hair emergencies' i wash with a clarifying shampoo and put on a hair mask. Im currently using the kerestase mask. I spray in a leave in conditioner before combing it out and drying. I then use moroccon oil light ( hair is fine) before and after blow drying.

I think the process is just as important as the products. Blow-dry in sections and use straighteners. Once done, use serum to smooth

Excellent. I have used a generous dollop of a hair mask and put a turbie towel on.

I'll leave it on all night then wash it out tomorrow.

I normally blow dry my hair in sections but I still get a fuzzy bit. I may crack out the straighteners tomorrow if I need a bit of extra smoothing.

Wash your hair, put conditioner through the ends and go to bed without washing it out, wear a shower cap.
Rinse the conditioner out in the morning but don't rewash it

Hair oil on for 20 minutes before a wash. Shiny and supple. Thought those hair days were long gone.

Highlighta · 23/02/2024 19:11

I usually find my hair looks better the day after I have washed and dried it.

I'm not sure if it's because of natural oils or what the reason is.

So what about if you wash and dry it tonight instead of tomorrow.. What is your hair like the next day?

PiningForTheMoon · 23/02/2024 19:11

Does the type of oil matter Snusnusnu?

I agree Highlighta and that was my plan but I'm too knackered now so I'm going to wash it tomorrow instead.

I'll wash it in the morning to give it maximum settling down time.

Give it a final really cold rinse.
