‘Nice tops’ for jeans

Packing for a weekend away and realised I have absolutely no ‘nice tops’ for when I fancy wearing jeans and a nice top. I’m having an absolute mind blank on where to shop! I usually hide in oversized jumpers, I’m a 16 with annoyingly large boobs. Can anyone recommend somewhere stylish but affordable? I usually use ASOS but the quality has been shocking recently.

Reiss, Whistles, Jigsaw, AllSaints, Karen Millen, Cos, Theory?

Howmuchhh · 22/02/2024 21:21

Thanks but I should have said probably on a slightly lower budget! I’m late 20s and it seems to be either boohoo/pretty little things style (not me!) or the other end of the spectrum. I’m not sure where to look somewhere in the middle for good quality, not frumpy and not hideously expensive.

I find TK Maxx helpful for this. It can be a bit hit and miss though, but I have been known to pick up really nice tops there that I wouldn't dream of paying the original price for.

ASOS has been terrible recently! I'm finding Mango, River Island, H&M, and &Other Stories good at the moment. Also M&S for things like silk t-shirts at a reasonable price. Zara also worth a look.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 23/02/2024 07:09

Whistles used to be okay for these, but their sizing is ridiculous now unless you’re Mr Tickle.

I’ve got a couple from M&S, but you have to filter through a whole load of crap for the occasional gem.

Mango or Zara maybe?

ThePenIsBlue · 23/02/2024 14:44

I’m the same and I just never go anywhere where I have to dress up! I only have t-shirts to go with jeans. I am similar size to you, I have scoured everywhere and I can’t find anything. Some of the stores mentioned I would never even look in as they are all for teeny tiny people - zara?! My boobs wouldn’t fit in any top from there…,

Ridingaroundonbuses · 23/02/2024 14:47

I have been on a top buying spree in order to liven up my jeans and the ones that I have bought (Topshop, River Island, Monki and Miss Selfridge ) have all come from charity shops so I say try your local charity shops.

OMGitsnotgood · 23/02/2024 16:42

I'd second TK Maxx. I also like Klass. You have to scroll past some not so nice stuff but most of my 'going out with jean's' tops are from there.

I find that when I don’t know what I want exactly, Vinted is a great place to look.

TheOGCCL · 23/02/2024 19:21

Maybe have a look at Yumi.

Rosiepeta · 23/02/2024 19:36

Asos has really gone downhill, River Island and Next are good for ' nice top and jeans'

Ridingaroundonbuses · 24/02/2024 19:02

Monsoon have some tops that are reduced. Worth a look.

henlake7 · 24/02/2024 19:10

Primark? I just bought a lovely cream v-neck jumper on sale for £4 that would look nice with jeans and some accessories (big boob approved too!LOL).

MarshmallowsOnToast · 24/02/2024 19:32

Following.. I'm size 16 & 34H boobs.

I struggle to find any smart/going out tops. No shops seem to cater for anyone with a bust.

Certainly not the likes of Zara, River Island, Miss Selfrifge, H&M

It's all cut really small across the chest & stiff fabrics.... or a t-shirt/vest top...

I usually spend hours trawling through Vinted looking for shapes that might work and taking a chance.

northernmamax · 24/02/2024 21:51

Have a look at In The Style.

Great plus size range and some lovely bits on there and quite cheap!

northernmamax · 24/02/2024 21:52

Jac Jossa does loads of edits for them and I always think her bits are fab 🥰

maslinpan · 24/02/2024 22:01

One Hundred Stars have some really forgiving drapey styles. They are expensive but their sales often have huge reductions.

martha4clark · 24/02/2024 22:08

Zara, or look on Vinted. Just search for dressy tops, size ?, etc.
