Let's Talk About Stockings

Hi all

I need some help here.

I love wearing corsets/basques, and I love the look with stockings.

I don't want stay up stockings, because the items I have do have stocking straps that I want to use, and also, I have fat thighs, and they give me a silhouette I am not happy with.

Can anyone recommend where I can get stockings that do not give me that thigh bulge please? I am around 5'4.

What about the places you bought the other garments? I would think they’d have some.

I have seen places that sell stockings by size. Unhelpfully, I've not bought any for ages, so I don't remember which site. But I would agree stockings are better than holdups because they don't usually have the same constricting band.

A quick Google of "stockings for wide thighs uk" brings up quite a few sites doing plus size hosiery.

I'd recommend just buying a size up. I'm usually a size XS/S but I get that bulge over the top unless I buy a medium.

Thanks. I've had some for a while. I did look online but everywhere I find has got the silicon band on top.

I wouldn't call myself plus size. I wear a dress size 12. I just have fat thighs.

Thanks, I would still rather avoid the silicon band but going up a size is a good idea.

Those of us who are old enough to have worn stockings with suspenders belts in the pre-tights era will recognise this as a perennial problem for those with and fat or muscle at the top of their thighs, or indeed anything other than a stick-like silhouette. I never found a solution, other than to stand motionless.

Yeah they're awful. I don't know who they're supposed to suit because you must need thighs of absolute steel to wear them.

Gio stockings don't give any bulge at all, they lie lovely and flat.
They are made on old machines, the fully fashioned are expensive, but a reinforced heel and toe pair isn't too bad and feel so luxurious.

But it's only about the stockings, not your whole wardrobe. It's worth having a look, as some of them list the measurement round the thigh, which eill probably lead to a better fit.

Ooh Gios are wonderful. I used to buy these from the Stockings HQ but it’s appears to have closed. Don’t get many opportunities to wear them anymore.
