Which IPL device?

I presumed I should just go for a Philips Lumea but a quick Amazon search has surprised me with a load of cheaper options which seem to have good reviews. Anyone tried one of these and can recommend? Or are they a scam and I should stick with the original Philips option?

Not sure if it is cheaper but I do have Braun Silk-expert IPL and I love it. Got it on Black Friday in '22 and very happy with the results, definitely works! Not that all hair went to absolute 0, but it became so light and sparse I only shave once a month (and use IPL subsequently for maintenance).

Following with interest. I recently read loads of great reviews on Reddit for IPLs costing less than £100. They were the same units but with various branding. Wondering they are worth a try or to get a Lumea.

I'm 57, shave my face every 3 days and am having horrific visions of being incapacitated in hospital and my family seeing me sporting a thick dark moustache and goatee. Absolutely not joking and it's genuinely worrying me.

I have read amazing reviews for facial hair PP so I would think it would be worth it for you if you're thinking about it that much. I'm sure it's nowhere near as noticeable as you think it is Flowers

The price difference is massive though isn't it - it's about £300 for a really basic Philips, whereas Amazon had one on a lightening sale for £45 yesterday!!! But I don't want to end up spending £345 if the cheap one is crap and I buy the Philips eventually anyway!

How often do you have to use the IPL now you're at the maintenance stage?
