Blackhead ‘extractors’

I’ve never posted a thread in Style & Beauty before, since I am neither stylish nor beautiful. Grin I have a question, though.

I saw a little tool thing advertised for extracting blackheads, sort of like tweezers but different. Do such things actually work as advertised, or will I just fuck up my face like I do if I try to squeeze them out?

I bought one and it never worked on anything other than the most accessible, plump easy blackheads. So maybe it worked one time out of every 100 😂

It doesn't work

Buy some fullers earth online (it's dry clay powder) and mix with some water, leave on nose till it dries and extracts the black heads and wash off

I had one of those metal loop ones which only worked if I massaged with oil first, then did a clay mask, then massaged with oil again. If I went over my nose with the blackhead tool after that, it tended to really clear out my pores as the previous treatment I think had done half the job at loosening etc. I have a feeling they’re bad for your skin overall though and potentially make your pores/blackheads worse. I think I read that somewhere. But it’s so satisfying when all the little wormy bits squeeze out.

I used it but you have to go over the are quite hard and I have sensitive skin so ditched it as it got so red. Yes for me it sucked up the big and ready ones but I was alarmed by redness. Acids like buffet by the ordinary or salcylic acid exfoliate black heads but only use once a week and daily spf otherwise you will get hyperpigmentation. I used acids 3 times a week which was too much for me personally and then my skin barrier was damaged. So be gentle and patient.
Aztec clay and apple vinegar mask once a month is all my skin can tolerates but it really pulls the blackheads out. I leave it for like half an hour.

Thanks all for the replies. I’m a compulsive picker so I suspect I might make my skin worse by overusing one of these. I don’t even have particularly bad blackheads! 🤦🏻‍♀️ I’ll steer clear and try the masks instead.
