Straightening curly frizzy hair sometimes - will I ruin my hair? (Picture)

I have long curly frizzy European hair. I've straightened it in the past with hairdryer and irons but it takes forever and gives me horrible neck ache.

I keep seeing the Tymo brush thingy on social media and it looks very tempting - easy and effective. I'm scared that if I do it I will ruin my hair and get stuck having to always straighten it, which i don't have time for and don't want to do. I would like to be able to have the option of straight when I feel like it. Is that possible?

my hair is similar to yours and I’ve never routinely straightened it. I go to a curly hair specialist hairdresser and she says never to straighten it as it does cause damage.

however when I have occasionally straightened it I’ve never noticed any problems, but that’s probably because I don’t do it that often. I know lots of people with curly hair whose hair is now fried from over straightening.

so I think you’ll be okay if you straighten it occasionally and have a good routine otherwise so your hair is well conditioned/hydrated
