Am I just never destined to own a nice pair of jeans

I'm 5'2" and wide at hips and thighs. The last pair of jeans I had that fitted well and that I actually liked was about 12 years ago (no word of a lie).
I prefer skinny, but they are ALWAYS still too long so I end up with inches of fabric bunched up at the ankle which looks crap. Turns up or under also looks crap.
Or, I find a pair that just about passes length wise only to find they are saggy in the crotch or have baggy knees - who the hell wants a baggy knee! Oh and of course the waist just comes up to my tits.

I don't want Jeggings. I want pockets at the front. And I don't have million pounds to buy a pair of bloody jeans.

Should I just give up and accept leggings are all I am worthy of?

I love New Look Hallie jeans, they do them high waisted and non, and from a 28 leg, and they're true to size, I'm also 5"2

GandTtwice · 14/02/2024 14:01

Levi's 315 are a bit more pricey but they are good for the more curvy. They do leg length and waist size. I get mine from eBay, once you know your size it's quite easy to find them on there.
Edit - sorry realised that you want skinny ones so this is not a good answer

AvoSourdough · 14/02/2024 15:07

I'm similar height and shape and have spent a lifetime (and a lot of money) trying/buying jeans. I find jeans with numbered waist size and length usually fit me better. Levi's are great and you can try different styles/sizes in store (and find them cheaper online if you're on a budget). I like 501 crop but if you prefer skinny then try 311 or 314 (technically straight but fits semi-skinny on my thighs). Abercrombie & Fitch curve love and Hollister curvy are good too (both have short lengths). If you're open to jeggings that are more jean-like (thicker and with pockets but stretchy) try American Eagle (also have short length).

MaryLennoxsScowl · 14/02/2024 17:55

You want cropped jeans - they’re full length on us. Zara do nice ones and have skinnies still. I also hem all my jeans if I can’t get them cropped, and for casual ones I just cut them off and leave them raw edged. To hem properly you need to cut the excess off, don’t just turn it under.

FayCarew · 14/02/2024 17:55

M&S.

Wakemeup17 · 14/02/2024 18:38

7 for all mankind? My jest jeans were from there but I was stupid and didn't buy more when they stocked the model I liked. Gstar is OK too.
If they're skinny, can you get them shortened to the length you want?

Farmageddon · 14/02/2024 18:50

I recently bought a nice pair of flared jeans from Vero Moda (I think the brand is Noisy May) which I really like. I'm also pear shaped and usually love skinny jeans, but actually the flares balance out my shape really well.

These ones also have a bit of stretch in them so are comfortable and don't go baggy. You could try and get a petite pair so they're not too long.

FayCarew · 14/02/2024 18:58

7 for all mankind jeans are great. Fat Face are worth a try too.

These ones are great OP and come in a variety of lengths. No baggy crotch and good quality 'proper' denim and not the horrible stretchy stuff.

Workingmytickettoparadise · 14/02/2024 19:08

Mango cropped flare jeans called Sienna might be worth a try. Boden are more pricey but do short length. They have some wide leg cropped jeans in the sale that I ❤️❤️

OooScotland · 14/02/2024 19:51

I’m 5’, size 14 and really love Toast Annie side button jeans. They’re wide leg so no good for OP, sorry. They are, as another pp said, cropped but full length on me. Toast have done them for quite a few years and I live in fear of them stopping.

I used to wear M&S but now all theirs are stretch fabric, which I hate.

xyz111 · 14/02/2024 20:36

Could you get a good pair of jeans that fit you everwhere but the length and then take them to a seemstress to shorten the leg? There's someone in our town everyone goes to 😂

99victoria · 14/02/2024 21:15

Yes, another vote for Zara - I'm 5ft 4in and just bought 2xpairs of their baggies - you can roll them up and they have elasticated waists. I'm in heaven😂

OneRingToRuleThemAll · 14/02/2024 21:16

If you can get to a Levi store they do alterations in the shop.

mdinbc · 14/02/2024 21:17

I almost always send jeans to the tailors. It doesn't usually cost much and you get the exact length you want.

EeeewDavid · 15/02/2024 08:29

Thanks all, some brands here I’ve never tried so I’m excited to see if there’s something out there that works for me.
I always get new look and M&S suggested which would be great as they are so cheap but they always just fit horribly on me, especially M&S.
I’ve also tried some different styles before but find wide leg just make me look very wide and dumpy. How I long to be one of those ladies who can pull off the mom jean look stylishly.
thanks again, looking forward to nap time so I can do some online browsing.

Agree with either getting them shortened, or buying cropped lengths. I’ve moved on from skinnies but the last pair I tried on were Levi’s and they were mid rise which fitted in the leg as well.

WhatHaveIDoneNow · 15/02/2024 10:32

Fellow shorty here.

The lenghth of trousers is usually something that can be navigated, with rolling up or taking to alterations. The bane of my life is the waist/crotch ratio, and M&S are the absolute worst for this.

The current trend for high-waisted and wide-leg is an absolute nightmare!!

WhatHaveIDoneNow · 15/02/2024 10:33

OP you might find that a bootcut or a slight flare looks better than a skinny, as it's still fitted around the hips and thighs.

ZaZathecat · 15/02/2024 11:25

If I need to shorten jeans I just cut and fray the gems. It's a lot easier than hemming properly so they still look like jeans, and I like the effect.

ZaZathecat · 15/02/2024 11:25

*hems

Workingmytickettoparadise · 17/02/2024 17:19

I have found that when I have had jeans shortened ( bootcut jeans) they have looked a bit naff and wrong.

Rina66 · 18/02/2024 10:43

M & S Lily are great, come in various leg lengths and colours
