Hello!

I'm almost 47, and for years now I've kinda neglected my skin. You know how it is. 🙄 Luckily, I seem to have got away with it, but I want to start taking more care.
My skin has always been a bit on the oily side, and my nose has visible pores. I don't have wrinkles yet, just some crow's feet round my eyes.
I can't spend an awful lot, but advice would be appreciated, as all the serums and acids and whatnot have got me baffled!!

A vitamin C in the morning

A retinoid in the evening.

SPF 50 every day

You might benefit from a salicylic acid product for the oily skin (CeraVe facial wash as a cleanser has salicylic, or a BHA toner/exfoliator)

Start slowly with all of these except the SPF.

CeraVe, The Ordinary, the Inkey List, La Roche Posay, ELF and good old Boots N7 all have reasonably priced products.

Is that a vit c/retinoid cleanser or moisturiser?
Thanks for replying. I'm honestly lost!

A vitamin C serum. (I'm using the Revolution Sali Hughes one at the moment) it adds a bit of glow and helps as an anti oxidant.

The retinoid would either be a serum or a cream. Lots of high street brands do entry grade retinoids. You need to work up slowly. Nadine Baggott (who I quote a lot!) has some really good explanatory videos about both C and A in products.

Then really any cleanser (I like Superdrugs own brand vitamin E) and any moisturizer which suits your skin.

Ooh, thank you !

That was the video that was a real lightbulb moment for me. I'd been buying serums and god knows what and suddenly discovered I'd got 23 (!!!) that mostly had the same ingredients 😂
