Trench Coat

I'd like a decent trench coat. Burberry is out of my price range. When I Google it, it throws up Temu or Bohoo (nothing wrong, I just want nice fabric).
I'd like something in between Burberry and Temu! M&S have sold out of my size online.
Any recommendations please?
Also, black or buff?
Thank you.

I have a trench from Mango that I wear a lot and love - it's a couple of years old, but they seem to bring out new versions every year. It's similar to this one. I've always preferred the classic beige/buff colours although have cursed myself for this preference many times when it gets covered in dirt from the commute on the tube...

@Tafelberg this looks nice. I like the green too, but the buff colour would go with more.
What you say about the tube is my concern - it showing the dirt or spilling something on it!
My only concern with black is collecting fluff, plus I think the classic natural colour is nicer.
Thank you for this link.

@MadamWow you're welcome. Mine is washable and doesn’t need ironing, maybe just check the labels for that if you do go with a light coloured one.

Sezane do some lovely looking ones. Trench coats don't suit me so I've never tried them but they look lovely on other people.

I have a Uniqlo Clare Waight Keller one from last year which I love but it's out of stock now. I also have a Hobbs Saskia which is great quality too. Often they come up on Brand Alley in certain colours.

Have a look at H&M, they do a good trench. I have a long beige one which I love, I'm quite tall (5'8") and it is just the right length.

Hobbs are famous for their trench so I'd have a look at those. They are quite smart.

Mine is from Gap and it's more casual. I've had it years . They still do similar ones online . They are a bit cheaper in price.

Seconding Mango.

EllaPaella · 13/02/2024 19:02

Tesco have some really nice ones in for £45 at the moment, in khaki and beige.

RedPandaFluff · 13/02/2024 19:59

It's actually much nicer in real life - this photo isn't great - but Sweaty Betty do a great "Technical Trench". I have it and the fabric is gorgeous, it's a great quality coat and easy to clean.

Thank you for your replies. I've ordered one from H&M and might order the Mango one too.
I haven't looked at Hobbs, so thank-you for that suggestion. Coach had a lovely looking one but it sold out because it was in the sale.
I think they're in fashion but I want one to keep.I had a Karen Millen and Zara one years ago and they served me well.

I've got a Hobbs one, love it!

Ariona · 14/02/2024 10:03

I have a Hobbs one too! Just looks and feels so much nicer. Mine is a few years old and still looks great.

pharmachameleon · 14/02/2024 13:30

I have the Sezane Scott trench in a khaki green colour and I love it. It's lovely and thick and hangs really well.

Comefromaway · 14/02/2024 14:53

I went on a similar mission a few weeks ago.

I tried on the Hobbs Saskia and it was really nice but not quite the right length for me. There are no stockists of Sezanne near me. The Mango one was nice too but in the end I bought a lovely one from Ted Baker as the quality was better than Mango. I also really liked one from Barbour but they didn't have my size.

Gerard Darel. Very classic, very nice. They do a version in cotton twill and one in wool/cashmere, so you can actually keep warm in the same style. If their quality remains what it always used to be (I haven't bought from them in a while), you will get 10+ years out of it.
