Sorry to be annoying. It was on a round up a few weeks ago and I have looked- promise. Does anyone know which product it was? My hair and scaly need a detox!
thanks

I have no idea what was in the roundups but if you've got a cheap glycolic acid on hand (the ordinary one is very good for this with its packaging with a handy tip) that works really well to cleanse your scalp, just apply at least half an hour before washing (I usually just apply it the night before) and then follow up with a clarifying shampoo and a hair mask if you've got one, otherwise just leave conditioner in for a bit longer than usual.

Thanks- will give that a go!🙂

Surely any shampoo will do this? A standard cheap shampoo without moisture added.

BigButtons · 12/02/2024 17:42

@43ontherocksporfavor no- there is build up of product and hard water build up too.

Didn't it involve baking soda?

JackOrMeryl · 12/02/2024 17:46

I use baking soda - just mix a teaspoon of baking soda with your shampoo and off you go. It works a treat. Just make sure to really condition afterwards.

changefromhr · 12/02/2024 17:48

Vosene
Or....
washing up liquid.
(I'd go for vosene first)

riotlady · 12/02/2024 18:01

Didn’t see the original thread but I really like amika exfoliating jelly shampoo - it’s not cheap but does the job and you don’t need to use it all the time, just when there’s a buildup.

CuntRYMusicStar · 12/02/2024 18:01

I use the Inkey List Glycolic Acid scalp scrub - it's not expensive and works really well - my hair goes a lot longer between washes for using that once a week - feels a lot fresher too!

MissRheingold · 12/02/2024 18:05

I just use Fairy washing up liquid. My hair is fabulous after I have washed it.

BeansOnToast32 · 12/02/2024 18:13

I use OUAI Detox Shampoo, it's not cheap but you don't need to use much, I also only need to use it once every 2-3wks so lasts ages.

BigButtons · 12/02/2024 18:25

@coxesorangepippin no no baking soda. There had been a thread- I was reading it and then it came up on roundup with a recommended product-I stupidly didn't write it down.

BigButtons · 12/02/2024 18:27

@CuntRYMusicStar I have ordered some of that!
@MissRheingold doesn't it really dry your hair out?
Is vosene a detox shampoo?

Another vote for the OGX cider vinegar one. It does the job brilliantly without stripping all the moisture out of your hair.

43ontherocksporfavor · 12/02/2024 18:35

What sort of build up are you all talking about that shampoo doesn’t remove it. Have never felt a need and wondering why. I have hard water too.

fsr111 · 12/02/2024 18:35

I swear by head and shoulders when my hair has got a product build up. Seems to do the trick.

Turkeyhen · 12/02/2024 18:37

Was it Malibu C?

wavingthroughawindowww · 12/02/2024 19:42

I've suffered with this for year and tried all sorts.

Then I read that the best way to deal with it is to wash your hair upside down (so lean over in the shower and rub hair into nape of neck and let it rinse down).

It works amazingly.

mimiasovitch · 12/02/2024 19:45

For product and hard water build up you need to look for a chelating shampoo. I'm not sure of exact products but that term should bring up a good selection

OhcantthInkofaname · 12/02/2024 19:48

Vinegar mixed with a cheap clarifying shampoo. Suds well, leave on 20 minutes.

botemp · 12/02/2024 19:56

Turkeyhen · 12/02/2024 18:37

Was it Malibu C?

I think I did see MN promoting this recently in those halfway through a thread insert thingies. Malibu C is a very well liked chelating and clarifying shampoo so would echo the recommendation regardless.
