If quality basics are Done, what Next?

Since lockdowns (how far ago do they feel?), I have taken a more measured approach to wardrobe and most Basics are now in place, office workwear and smart casual for days out. It’s a versatile capsule with options in tan and black accessories. Of course, these will eventually need to be updated but for now it’s Done.

What next, how do I go about building on the foundations? Do I look for more outspoken items that slot in within this picture or look for standalone dresses or full outfits that would allow me to live outside of expanding capsule?

Also any tips on smart home clothes are welcome, that one seems impenetrable - if comfy, it feels scruffy…

Have a great evening, all!

Isn't the whole point of getting a capsule wardrobe of basics is that you stop buying so many clothes? Since I got mine sorted in the autumn I've not needed to buy anything. I'll probably pick some summery bits up as it gets warmer though.

Smart home clothes for me are generally my day to day clothes! I WFH so my day to day stuff is fine for home. If I want something comfier, I just wear my PJs. Not very fashionable I know!

Smart home clothes - I live in matching sets (like the cute trousers (even leggings!) / top sets you see at the white company etc) because they make me feel put together because they match. Love a good leggings / matching top combination too, it feels like pjs which is a win.

I think once you've built the capsule wardrobe it's time to invest in accessories! Good quality jewellery / shoes / scarves etc. Things that can level up an outfit. That and save up ££ to replace anything that needs it!
