Which ankle boots should I buy???

I have tall boots, some lovely “western” mid calf style boots and a couple of pairs of very chunky, very casual style boots (one of them are blundstones).

But I suddenly have a gap, in that I don’t have any slightly smarter ankle boots to just throw on when I go into the office. I am quite petite so some of the really chunky ones don’t look that great on me anyway.

I would want to wear them with jumper dresses, other dresses, trousers and jeans:

what do you think of these:

sienna

I was also looking at these on Vinted but maybe they look a bit too casual and also a bit dated

I like the sienna ones

Ruthietuthie · 11/02/2024 15:08

I have these exactly boots. The quality is lovely. Go for it.

Notcontent · 11/02/2024 15:12

Thanks - they seem to tick the boxes - slightly “smart” but not too much…

I'm after a pair of blundstones . How do you find the sizing?

In answer to your question I like both , but the ones with the high heel look smarter. You might also find some smart boots the Clarks outlet.

ClematisRock · 11/02/2024 15:28

I'd not wear them as they seem clumpy.
Maybe a middle aged woman would wear them with a midi length tartan/chequered skirt?

They don't seem young or even youngish.

Sorry.

Oh and nothing wrong with being middle aged... I am myself.

Notcontent · 11/02/2024 15:29

@Mairzydotes i think they come up a bit big but not hugely so. I am a 38 and bought a 5, which I felt were a little big so I gave them to my mum who is the same size but has a slightly wider foot. I do think it’s best to try them on to see!

the pair I have now are a 4 but they are a winter style that I think are a tiny bit larger than the standard.

To clarify, I have the Bobbies ones.
Are they dated? I don't think so. Classic, maybe? So if you want something more "of the moment" maybe they aren't for you.
But I find them really useful and they've kept in good condition despite a lot of wearing.
I also have these, which I wear even more. Again, a classic black ankle boot, but the slight Western styling and slightly narrower and higher shaft makes them feel more contemporary.

The Rag and Bone ones are incredibly comfortable too.

@ClematisRock do you think the bobbies sienna ones are clumpy? what would you wear with day dresses? Just interested as I am finding it hard to decide what I like as the moment…

I don't like the Sienna boots at all. They're terribly safe looking, sort of hiding in the background boots. They're the sort of boot one might pick, regardless of one's age, if you were nervous about wearing Docs and Doc style boots, in which category I include Lanx, Grenson, Solvair and Joseph Cheaney, or western boots or pointy stilletto boots. But I don't think any of those boots are unsuitable for most offices these days.

If it's of any relevance I'm almost mid 60s and I wouldn't wear them for the reason stated.

The Air and Grace ones are better.

The slightly western style simultaneously makes them contemporary and "what the heck, I just like Western style boots".

I much prefer them.

Edited

I’m just about 60 myself and I wouldn’t wear them. They’re ubiquitous, and seem to belong to the 80s with curling tonged hair and wide shoulders.

I do love those Rag and Bone boots - gorgeous shape.

But for work maybe I do need something that feels safe. Although now feeling less than confident about my fashion choices.

I do however have a gorgeous paid of Sezane western style boots, so maybe that will win me some fashion brownie points.
