Should I return this wedding dress?

I never thought I would get a strapless dress and although I feel great it in, I have read a lot of comments that strapless looks terrible - especially if you don't have the slimmest figure! Sometimes I think something looks good and it doesn't. Though I'm hoping to lose a few more pounds, do I have the shoulders for this strapless dress?? I have one week to decide, or do I add thin straps when I get it tailored? TIA

Should I return this wedding dress?

You look gorgeous! You can add a little lace or tulle bolero if you are self conscious, they are designed to look like part of the dress - they remove later to party!

Maireas · 11/02/2024 08:59

It sounds like it's the dress for you! No need for a veil, just keep it simple with your hair down and maybe a head piece of some sort. I would avoid a train/bustle.

Traceability · 11/02/2024 08:59

I think I will just need to do some arm toning exercises 😅
I jumped up and down a few times and seems to stay in place - and I didn't tie the back up properly. I tried three dresses on and when I felt the pockets I just 😍

I like it.

I think you might be broad shouldered like me. A straight across strapless wouldn't suit you, but the sweetheart neckline adds a subtle v shape and softens it.
I think adding straps would ruin the look, especially if they made a square shape. Although if you're not sure, you can pin some on to see the effect.

I think you look stunning. The strapless part is interesting enough not to look dated, and the shape suits you.
If you want your hair down, have it down! You could always have it to one side, or partly pinned off your face, to show more shoulder?

WhatwouldyoudoPlease · 11/02/2024 09:06

You look gorgeous - if you have done the jumping up and down test I reckon you are good to go! Have an amazing day ❤️

anon2022anon · 11/02/2024 09:07

Also, it looks a really good fit for off the rack, so great find!

OhVienna24 · 11/02/2024 09:08

You look really lovely. I wouldn’t do straps.

Thedance · 11/02/2024 09:10

It looks beautiful.
But more importantly do you feel comfortable and happy in it? If it does other people's baseless comments about strapless dresses are not important ignore them and enjoy your day

It’s beautiful and looks like it fits you really well. your figure looks lovely in it.

I’m not the biggest strapless fan but I genuinely think that this looks great on you. I really like the structuredness (I can’t really think of the word… it looks kind of sturdy and luxurious?) of the bodice

This.

I'm another not-a-strapless-fan but this is really unusual and it looks simply fablous on you. Keep it!

And yes, pockets! 😊

BrightGreenGoose · 11/02/2024 09:14

I think it's beautiful and you look amazing in it but I'd get a bolero if the service is in church. That's probably just me though.

OurfriendsintheNE · 11/02/2024 09:14

I absolutely love this dress and you look fabulous in it! I’m now very jealous that I didn’t have a wedding dress with pockets

Uncooperativefingers · 11/02/2024 09:17

You have nice straight shoulders which look good in strapless dresses. I have the same, and found that when I tried dresses with thin straps, they made my shoulders look really broad. Don't break up the clean line with straps.

The key to no boob hoiking is proper under structure and a good tailor. My dress had a hidden corset which kept everything in place and I'm a 30E/F. If you're west mids I can also recommend and excellent wedding dress tailor. She was the best thing about my wedding prep!

I also think everyone second guesses their wedding dress!

Traceability · 11/02/2024 09:20

It's been super helpful reading everyone's comments. It's so easy to second guess such a big important purchase isn't it? Now, to think of which jewellery will enhance it!

Beautiful 😍

Ilovemyshed · 11/02/2024 09:22

Its great on you. I would consider adding a sheer and sleeved coat over the top for a different look.

Einevinefine · 11/02/2024 09:23

Seems like it passes the test!!

Now to decide on hair!

Hope you have having fun and congratulations, wishing you a wonderful day

xyz111 · 11/02/2024 09:26

It looks lovely!!! Mine had pockets too and I loved it!!

Cucumberinginplease · 11/02/2024 09:39

I think you look beautiful, your arms and shoulders look fab, and from what I can see of the dress, it looks beautiful.

I dont really buy into "the one" thing with wedding dresses, but I would say that if you're questioning it, then maybe it's not the dress for you? As beautiful as it is and as lovely as it looks?

Neolara · 11/02/2024 09:42

You look fabulous in the dress. And I love love love the pockets.

Mairzydotes · 11/02/2024 10:02

It's a lovely dress and it looks lovely on you . You seem well supported in the bust , which isn't always the case with strapless.

I do understand that strapless doesn't suit everyone, but you do suit it. And pockets too!

ShoesoftheWorld · 11/02/2024 10:04

I'm actually not a strapless fan at all myself, but it genuinely looks lovely on you. If you love it, keep it!

Enko · 11/02/2024 10:04

It's beautiful on you

ShoesoftheWorld · 11/02/2024 10:05

I missed it has pockets! Keep it keep it keep it!

Mumtime2 · 11/02/2024 10:10
