How do I know which face serum I need?

I'm so overwhelmed with all the different types. SIL is in France and has offered to pick me up some skincare bits from the pharmacies.

I don't have any particular skin concerns, overall it's pretty clear but the only issues I would really say is that I notice pores on my nose and chin which can sometimes looks blocked. It's not oily and it's not dry either.

Anybody any suggestions? Smile

Doesn't even have to be a serum suggestion really, just anything that can be picked up in a French pharmacy Smile

For pores I'd use a chemical exfoliant/toner a couple of times a week to clear & tighten pores. Serum - use a niacinamide.

I use The Ordinary. They can do a skin care routine for you.

Whatever you choose, a bha should be good, don't use it too often as it can burn the skin the clues in the name acid. You can also get lovely soaps, I like Roget et Gallet because they look so posh in their container/soap dish

For blocked pores I'd recommend A313 pomade.
It's an extremely weak type of retinol ester but i used it and it finally got rid of a group of stubborn blackheads on the tip of my nose that no other skincare, including bha's and stronger retionoids hadn't budged.
You can get it on amazon here for about £20, but I believe its only a few euros in French pharmacies.

I know it is not skincare but if you have small children paracetamol suppositories are great for kids who can't swallow and are unwell (eg tonsillitis) . They are really expensive in the UK, and dirt cheap in France.
