Expensive Lisa Eldridge lipstick mistake!

So, after being really quite ill and feeling very down, I quite madly decided to treat myself to not one but TWO Lisa Eldridge Velvet lipsticks, which I’d be wanting for well, years. They arrived today and - distaster. The formula is way too dry for me and the colours are both off. Over £50 down the drain, which I can’t afford. Its was a moment of madness really. Any ideas how I could get any money back? Can’t sell on tried lipstick can you 😩🤢?

Contact customer service, she has a generous return policy, they'll accept returns if it's used but only if it's to try/swatch.

Ive got a lisa eldridge lipstick. Lovely lady in Liberty helped me choose it. They stay on for ages, which is a bloody miracle for me. They are very drying though.
What colours did you buy?

RosieAway · 06/02/2024 20:39

Oh thank you, I’ll try customer services. Yes should have gone in store, didn’t think.

Got Velvet Pompadour and Velvet Morning. The first isn’t the right shade of pink, the second isn’t the right shade of red. I actually wanted Velvet Ribbon originally but for some reason chose those ones 🫣They wore really badly and unevenly on me. Can see they’d be good on the right person.

That's a shame. I got Velvet Ribbon recently and it's gorgeous but yes very drying. It's so hard buying make-up online. As per PP you could try to contact via her website and see what they say.

Ribbon is available as a lip gloss, it's lovely and buildable, and it's not annoyingly sticky like traditional lip gloss, more like a lip oil. If you want it really full on you can layer the ribbon lip pencil underneath (on the entire lip) to a very dramatic effect.

Sorry to hear you've been poorly btw, OP Flowers

You could try them over a clear, or coloured depending on the problem, lip oil.

Can you swap to Luxuriously Lucent instead? I don't find them drying at all. Probably don't stay on as long though...

RosieAway · 07/02/2024 11:43

Thanks all. Have contacted LE and they’ve very decently said they’d swap them. Is Luxuriously Lucent the best non-drying option? The ribbon lipgloss sounds good too but do like some coverage without doing lip pencil…

The lip gloss in ribbon is fairly opaque, much more coverage than your standard lip gloss, the lighter colours have more transparency. You can sheer it out and then it's like a tinted lip balm, just a hint of healthy colour. Straight out of the tube and directly applied it's a good amount of colour. Obviously not on par with velvet ribbon but tbh that can feel a bit much sometimes, the lip gloss is much easier to wear.

Luxuriously lucent are indeed not as drying as velvet with a satin finish.

StaringAtTheWater · 07/02/2024 15:26

I've not tried the lip gloss so I can't compare the two, but I'm very fussy about lipstick - I hate the taste and 'tight' feeling of most lipsticks and as a result never wore any. It was only after trying my sister's Luxuriously lucent, that I bought some and started wearing it regularly.
