I need a non-revealing but summery dress suitable for a christening and a family wedding with a toddler who I will be chasing. I will be wearing it with gold strappy sandals and a cult gaia straw and gold mini bag, and big black celine-style sunglasses.

Sleeveless is fine, but not spaghetti straps. It will be hot. I was thinking a tea dress or something with capped sleeves. I want an interesting/abstract print, or a plain summery colour.

Usually OB would be good for something like this, but everything I like is out of stock in my size.

Can anyone recommend something similar?

I’ve had a look at Rixo but nothing is coming up on Vinted, their rental is too expensive for the period I need (will be abroad) and I don’t want to spend £300 on a printed ‘bright’ dress. But that’s the vibe I’m going for.

Sugarhill Brighton is well worth a look.

Mango is great for very reasonably priced dresses and it's also the very stylish Queen Leticia of Spain's, favourite high street store too! Brand Alley is also worth a look - it sells end-of-season clothes from both mid and high-end high street stores and named designers, always much cheaper than the original prices.

Ghost crepe - brilliant in the heat, bias cut flattering, will be worn for years afterwards.

I'm no help, but just wanted to say a big thank you for this thread. I've got the exact same requirements for a wedding this summer and you've all been a huge help!

I think the first John Lewis dress from mango you linked is by far the nicest, would be practical and really appropriate for a wedding. I think your accessories sound like they would work well. I’m not usually one for florals either but love that dress for some reason!

I actually just went back to look I like it so much but they don’t have that dress in my size 😥

Hope you get something you’re happy in!
