Help with styling DM type boots at work

Please help. I have invested in some Lanx Dinckley boots because I have moved departments at work and realised that my current work look is a bit too "Hobbs corporate" and making me feel old, and I now need to walk to a second work site regularly and need comfortable and sensible footwear.

I didn't really think this through. I am a petite size 8 with size 6 feet and worried that I just look a bit daft. I have a lot of perfectly good work clothes, think Boden Abigail jersey dresses, Hobbs jersey tops, wide legged trousers and fine knitwear.

Are there a few key pieces that I could buy to mix into my existing work wardrobe to dress it down a bit? Other than midi dresses, which can swamp me, what sort of dresses and skirts will go with my Lanx boots?

You can see that I am a bit clueless! My best friend advises to just wear what I like which is well meant but not very helpful.

I know you said midi dresses swamp you - not sure how tall you are but I'm 5'1 and midi skirts can work very well!

I love chunky boots with mid calf length skirts, either knit or pleated? I think your existing tops would go well with this.

Or perhaps looser chunkier sweaters with more fitted skirts to balance out the boots? You could wear a sweater over your Boden Abigails instead of separates.
