Really fancy some but not sure which ones to go for?
Are they worth investing in?

They are AGONY. Rip your feet apart

I got some last year and find them really comfortable. But everyone is different so it's what works for YOU that counts, OP.

Mine only did it once, I wore them to a festival and the vodka meant I barely noticed. OP wear them socks and plasters a few times mine now live on my feet from mid April until September. They are cleaned and ready to go for another year

Doc M’s don’t work if you need arch support, which is sad because I like them.

I have a couple I wear occasionally and they’ve broken in ok. Apparently they are no longer made to the same standard, so it’s worth looking at Solovair - the UK based brand that used to make them as they do similar

Twiceover · 04/02/2024 18:05

No - they were so uncomfortable I could only face wearing them 4 times. I hate them- total waste of money.

Twinklewonderkins · 04/02/2024 18:12

I love mine and didn’t find them uncomfortable, I must have weird feet.
just need the sun back now.

Purplecatshopaholic · 04/02/2024 18:14

I love them. I have some Blaires in cream, and some black Voss ones with fur on the front. The black ones were comfy from the off, the Blaires needed breaking in.

This is always trotted out but I have never experienced a badly made pair of docs. I have four pairs, one pair I've had for 13 years

HamHand · 04/02/2024 18:18

I bought some last year expecting them to be murder to break in but they were comfortable right from the first wear. They have 2 crossed straps at the front, the ones I tried which were 3 straps straight across the foot were really loose even on my fairly hefty feet and would have rubbed I think. I love them, they look great, but the wear to the sole after one seasons light use is disappointing. They’re lightweight foam rather than the chunkier rubber sole you’d expect from Docs, and driving in them seems to have done the most damage.

GoodOldEmmaNess · 04/02/2024 18:22

I've always found them very comfy. Never heard of having to break them in.
They don't seem to have less arch support than other fashion sandals, though I guess sandals marketed as being for hiking are likely to have a bit more support.

Moonlaserbearwolf · 04/02/2024 18:27

My 12 year old loves hers (Voss) and says that they were a bit uncomfortable the first time she wore them, but have been v comfy ever since.
If you have the feet for them (my feet are narrow and I don’t think they’d fit me at all) then I think they are brilliant.

usernother · 04/02/2024 18:35

I love the look of them but I cannot see the point of buying shoes, boots or sandals that are so uncomfortable they have to be broken in. I'd rather buy footwear that is comfortable from the start.

Spacecowboys · 04/02/2024 18:35

Go with Voss rather than Blair / gladiator style sandals. Voss don’t need worn in at all, comfortable straight away. Blair= blisters. I also found I needed to size down with the sandals because they are quite wide fit.

Yep! I bought the Blair slip on ones and some gladiator style ones last year and only ever wear them if I'm just sitting in the office most of the day. They look great but the pain is unreal.

McConkeysPlate · 04/02/2024 18:41

They are the most comfortable sandals I have ever had. No breaking in needed. I don’t know the name but they just have one wide strap across the front.
