Uniqlo Sizing

Has anyone got any advice on sizing at Uniqlo? They have a calculator on their website where you put your height, age and weight in and I have come out as an XL?! SURELY this cannot be right? I'm 5"3 and weigh 9 stone exactly? I'm a 10 usually?

Yeah that sounds wrong. I'm 5ft and weigh about 7.5 stone and I usually wear an XS. Surely you are Small or Medium at most?

showmethegin · 01/02/2024 22:32

For arguments sake I changed my weight to what the NHS BMI calculator suggests would take me into the underweight zone and it comes out as a medium (bearing in mind they seem to run their sizes in XXS, XS, S, M, L, XL and XXL.

This is why women get a complex about their perfectly normal human bodies.

Sorry cross posted! That's really helpful, thank you! Yes I assumed a medium. I might have to go in and try

I’m 5 ft 10 and 75kg and take a large (usually a 12)

GandTeaForMe · 01/02/2024 22:34

What are you planning to buy? I’ve found the sizing calculator is often accurate but occasionally wildly off. I’m a size 14-16 and usually an XL in trousers and anything from a M to XXL on top depending on the item.

VanellopeVonSchweetz99 · 01/02/2024 22:56

Their sizes are all over the place. I'm a petite S-M or 10-12-14 elsewhere depending on vanity sizing, and just bought knitwear in XS at Uniqlo. My raincoat however is L.
Edit: I'm just over 5'3 and 9 stone 2lbs, bra 32D

dottyaboutstripes · 01/02/2024 22:57

It used to be fairly accurate but has gone a bit bonkers lately. I'm 5ft 1 and 8 and a half stone which now means XL Confused
I usually wear a S from Uniqlo so it's completely wrong

A few things, t shirts and trousers but I was looking at one of the down jackets when I clicked on the sizing tool. I'm quite petite in general, narrow shoulders etc so I'd be dumbstruck to be an XL in a coat; I usually have to size down in coats unless it's in the petite range

Gosh those stories are nuts! I do wonder (especially having been working through the current thread on peoples issues with clothes shops) who the hell are they designing for? How is it hard to get sizing more consistent? Within a brand?

Just been looking through the reviews of the coat and saw this one, not just me then Grin

My advice is ignore the size calculator which is bonkers. But the great thing about Uniglo is they have the actual garment measurements. So just measure something you already own and compare it to the sizes on the website. Also means if you like things loose or tight you know what you are going to get.

crackfoxy · 02/02/2024 07:19

I'm an 18 and wear an XL down coat do no way are you also an XL!

Hopealong · 02/02/2024 07:32

I'm 5ft 5 and just over 9 stone and in the down jacket I have a large and a medium but I feel the large is a better fit. The medium is just too snug and if it is zipped up feels like a straitjacket.

It is bonkers sizing really and there is a element of preference of fit. I love the down jackets though.

It's a Japanese brand, huge in FE Asia and yes it is cut for smaller body frames. It's often OK for petite from its main ranges too, for the same reason.

The sizing is very erratic from garment to garment in Uniqlo although they generally skew small.

do find their down jackets particularly small - I bought two for my DM and DMIL last Christmas, both 5'2ish and size 10ish: I bought a small and a medium for DMIL to try on, because I wasn't sure which she'd need and I needed to take them both back and get a large, which was a perfect fit, snug if anything.

Grandmasswag · 02/02/2024 08:27

All over the place. Some garments are very oversized and baggy cut. It’s pretty annoying that they’ve started charging for returns as well when their sizing is all over the place!

TuxedoChimp · 02/02/2024 12:10

I'm a size 10 or 12 (depending on shop) and wear a S or M in uniqlo.

Their size calculator has changed recently and is now completely out. It must be costing them a fortune in returns.

NorthFaceofthelaundrypile · 02/02/2024 13:09

I have one of the short length down jackets.
I’m a bog standard size 16, and my coat UNIQLO coat is an L, with plenty of room for a jumper underneath.

But they give sizing for every garment online.

It's good that it varies. If one type of cut doesn't fit you, you might be able to find another range that does, rather than having to write the shop off altogether.

erlangshen · 02/02/2024 14:17

Im 164cm 61kg, normally size 8-10. I have two uniqlo short down jackets, size XS is perfect. I also have a long down jacket, size S fits me well. XL is definitely not for your size.

Kiitos · 02/02/2024 14:21

The size calculator seems to have been faulty for a few weeks. Same is happening for me and a friend. I wear Uniqlo size 26 trousers consistently and it’s telling me XL is needed when I put in my measurements!
