and feel bridally, jazz it up with accessories? Or is this too like a clubbing dress? I don’t know where people where things like this anymore.

It's a lovely dress, if it fits it will look stunning.

Mummyoflittledragon · 02/02/2024 06:35

It’s not just the length you need to consider but the torso length. It’s a very elegant dress so worth buying to see if you can have it shortened.

ShoesoftheWorld · 02/02/2024 08:16

I like it. I'm a not dissimilar size and (I assume) height to you and I could see myself in this (bar the strapless aspect - that's not me - I would wear some kind of bolero/shrug-type thing over it). Echo making sure the proportions work. Didn't see if it comes in petite.
Edit for typos.

NashvilleQueen · 02/02/2024 08:19

I love it on the model but she's v tall and I wonder if the length would work for you? It's very simple and you could probably have one made just like it but fitted exactly to your height and shape. Equally you could get this one and have it adjusted.

DillDanding · 02/02/2024 08:23

Gorgeous. I’d keep jewellery etc to an absolute minimum as its beauty is its simplicity.

SherrieElmer · 02/02/2024 09:11

It is a very beautiful dress. Go for it.

UnpropitiousNightmares · 02/02/2024 09:12

It would make a really beautiful wedding dress, it's simple and elegant!

Jf20 · 02/02/2024 09:15

That’s lovely op. I’d not go some of the suggestions on here with bling and fur and colour. I

its a very elegant dress, so I’d keep it that way, some high strappy sandals, minimal jewellery, elegant hair and make up and a simple bouquet.

sometimes less is more.

Absolutely, it doesn’t need a pop of colour, fur, or bling. The aesthetic is elegance and simplicity. The op should keep in that theme

ThirtyThrillionThreeTrees · 02/02/2024 09:18

I love it. The only think thst might be an issue is lenght depending on how short you are.

I'm 5ft and take up most things or they don't look right. Nothing worst than something that doesn't cut at the most flattering area.

Bectoria2006 · 02/02/2024 09:19

Beautiful dress! I got married in this last year and think if it’s a simple wedding you’re going for it’s perfect

Can I get married in this?
LauderSyme · 02/02/2024 09:28

That is a gorgeous dress and would look beautiful dressed up on a bride.

The only caveat I think is it will have to fit super well to look it's very best, so would be worth paying a professional seamstress to do the odd nip, tuck or take up the hem if needed.

Congratulations on getting married!

DRS1970 · 02/02/2024 09:34

I would say to get whatever dress is within your means and makes you and your partner happy. It is your and your partners memory you are making and your and your partners commitment that you are making that are the most important aspects. The dress looks just fine. Enjoy, and GL.

MissLucyEyelesbarrow · 02/02/2024 10:19

Gorgeous - do it!

I agree with a PP that a subtle metallic shoe (silver or gold) would be better than white. Or (depending on your skin colour and tone) a pinkish nude.

You haven’t understood the purpose of the Style and Beauty board, @DRS1970. Hmm

The dress looks lovely, @ReadyForSeason and very suitable for a wedding. The bodice doesn’t look particularly long, and there should be no difficulty in having it shortened at the hem, if necessary.

Peaceandquietandacuppa · 02/02/2024 10:29

I love it! Just find a seamstress to alter it if it’s too long etc.

bigtreesonasunday · 02/02/2024 10:35

To put it lightly FUCK YES!
Elegant, classy and simple

BlackLabradors · 02/02/2024 10:39

I love it but older people will judge you baring so much skin especially if getting married in church. You could add a bolero to avoid that if it bothers you.

How much ‘older’? Grin

I’m over 60 and it looks a perfectly modest and appropriate dress to me.

(I find the bridal gowns that are basically nipple covers with a big puffy skirt fairly ghastly to look at, but it’s the ugliness I object to.)

Boleros are the devil’s work …

Annasgirl · 02/02/2024 11:16

I love it OP and I must say this is a first time ever unanimous vote for yes on the S and B board!!

Keep it simple and don’t add colour - go gold or silver or nude shoes. I also agree with getting a great dressmaker to alter it - I’m a fellow shortie so I know the score.

Have a fab day and come back to post us a photo!!

BlackLabradors · 02/02/2024 11:20

@StrangeNew it is usual custom to cover shoulders in church, but maybe she is getting married elsewhere. As I say some will judge but it is up to her if that bothers her.

Anoisagusaris · 02/02/2024 11:20

I think the OP would look a little silly with just one shoe. She should really wear shoes, not a shoe.

NigelHarmansNewWife · 02/02/2024 11:30

Very elegant OP. I would keep accessories and "bling" minimal. Coloured shoes in satin or patent leather. I'd wear a white crepe stole with a satin lining. No fake fur, sequins, shrugs, etc. Possibly an edge to edge collared, cropped white crepe jacket.

I'd love that dress in another colour for me!
