Please help me style this skirt

I bought this in the Oliver Bonas sale last year and just brought it out when switching around my wardrobe….

I can’t find any top that works with it.

(To me) Black looks wrong. White looks too cool. I tried to pick out a colour from the skirt (lilac) and it just looked so costume-y, if that makes sense.

I thought it would be great to just chuck on- but it’s so tricky.

Any ideas?

Kelly green jumper or top would really make the colours pop. Loads around high street at the minute

A black crop top sandwiched between some pastel yellow sunglasses, or a coloured bag might work.

The skirt is quite busy so I'd wear a very simple, casual t shirt with it. Plain grey marl for example. Or a cami vest in beige maybe

Or navy, might work better than black

A dark purple or dark blue Bardot style top might work.

A light wash denim shirt would be good, I think, or a white cotton shirt. Perhaps layer a denim shirt over a white or cream t-shirt?

A nude-toned pale pink (cool toned?) My night light setting thing is on my phone atm so might not be the best for judging colours rn. Metallic vest in warmer weather?

A mid - dark grey cropped sweatshirt? Dress it down a bit

Black vest top (I like bodysuit ones that clip under so you don't have to keep tucking it in) also grey t shirt as others have suggested. And some canvas trainers?
