Is this dress to awful? Or is it the shoes they styled it with?

I ordered to try on and plan to wear with black tights and black ankle boots in February and with bare legs and silver shoes in the warmer months.
Hope I will like it.

Do you like it?
How would you style it?

I don't like it. And I don't think that length (just below knee) suits anyone - with that style of dress, it needs to be calf length.

Alwaysgoingforit · 06/02/2024 14:12

Def not my style, love purple but nothing else about it.
Still my choice isn't yours so if you like it OP go for it, no trainers though, they always look so naff with dresses, esp the chunky ones.

Oops! Wrong thread

My gran had house dresses like this!! Definitely not for me :)

Lovely colour but with the super high neckline and long sleeves, it covers up more than needed for a slim 46 yr old and goes into frumpy territory.

Lottapianos · 06/02/2024 15:18

I really like it. Yes it is very Hyacinth Bucket! 😂 But thats why the trainers work with it. It's an enjoyable clash of styles, so makes the quaint style of the dress look ironic rather than grumpy. I would be steering clear of black tights / black boots, but that's not my style anyway

It's giving 'dress I found at the charity shop and made look cool' vibes. If you're about 30 and cool.

I'm 46 too, no way could I make it look funky, I think it's too frumpy, sorry.
