The perfect shirt/blouse??

museumum · 31/01/2024 17:14

Has anybody found the perfect shirt/blouse? I'm desperate to find something that is soft enough to drape nicely but not shiny manmade static material.

Cotton shirt/blouses seem to be stiff and formal, linen ones crumpled and drapey ones static and shiny.

Can anybody help? I want something smart/casual for wearing with jeans but still 'nice' and I'm busty so can't have anything too fitted (and prefer a baggier, drapey look anyway).

HELP????

Try Baukjen. I got a shirt exactly as you describe in the sale - made from Tencel (wood pulp!) and it is perfect - drapey but structured at the same time.

I can’t see it any more on their website but lots of other similar looking options.

I am busty too. NRBY small UK brand, their silk blouses wear well. John Lewis also stock them. Not cheap but I have worn mine countless times.

Following in desperation

I’ve seen insta ads for ‘with nothing underneath’, not sure if they are any good

I love the blouses in Joules, have loads just to throw on every day to make jeans look abit smarter (could easily wear some of the ones I have for a night out). I always buy them when they are in the outlet section. Ive got some really nice ones similar to this:

I second Baukjen. Or a silk blouse like the Chlo from Sézane which comes in lots of colours (Other Stories have a dupe - I got a navy one). Jigsaw also do good silk shirts in a more classic style. ££ but if you wash cold with a silk & wool detergent (one for darks if applicable) they last. I have a big bust too and like the way silk drapes.

Comefromaway · 31/01/2024 19:28

I’ve got a lovely one from Uniqlo

@Fortyin24 yes I’ve bought a couple of WNU and they are great. I’m petite so the classic style worked best and I have it in denim (love) and a blue stripe. If taller the boyfriend cut is v popular but it was too long on me.

Fortyin24 · 01/02/2024 20:58

Thanks @hashisucks I might take the plunge then - I’m tall so boyfriend might be better for me

Fortyin24 · 01/02/2024 21:01

@hashisucks how is the sizing by the way? Thanks!

hashisucks · 01/02/2024 22:07

TTS for me

DramaAlpaca · 01/02/2024 22:09

I like Sezane.

ChilliPB · 01/02/2024 22:11

Silk for sure, if you want draped and soft rather than stiff/structured. Sézane do lovely silk shirts as PPs have said.

Agree NRBY are really nice. I have a couple for work. Sessun is also worth a look.
