Help finding new lipstick/gloss for nights out?

Firstly the photo is from Google and is NOT me - I'm much older and more ‘ordinary’ but the closest I can find to my colouring.

I'm looking for a new lipstick or lipgloss for nights out - full makeup, smokey eye etc.

I know I can go to makeup counters and have the reps help me but need to narrow down the brands to try.

For all I keep reading that ‘there is a red lipstick for everyone’, I (even with help of brand MUAs) have never found one that suits me.

I’d still like something with a bit more impact than my everyday lipsticks, just not red.

I prefer autumnal shades, so not pink or purple tones, but more bronze than bright orange.

Anyone with similar colouring / preferences have a favourite that fits the bill? Or suggestions from MUAs or anyone who just has an interest in makeup and would like to help?

It’s not really clear what you’re looking for: a matte brown? A dark tone gloss?
What are your everyday lipsticks?
Nars American Woman in their Powermatte Liquid is a great terracotta brown.
Clinique Black Honey gloss or Nars Aragon afterglow lip shine are great dark glosses.

Not red, pink or plum/purple/orange

Probably more bronze than brown

Prefer a bit of a sheen to matte.

That's my skin tone stila lip gloss in Beso is an amazing red, my go to is loreal les macaroons ultra matte liquid lipstick in guava gush. I love it so much I buy in bulk incase it's discontinued! But I don't think that's really the colour your looking for? it's hard to describe it's sort of coral/ orange and that sounds terrible but it looks really good on! It lasts all day even when eating and drinking, weirdly I've tried other colours in the range and they don't last half as well.

If you don't mind some subtle sparkle, Estee Lauder's Tiger Eye would look gorgeous with your complexion. Line it with a slightly deeper brown lip liner to deepen it a bit as it's a little sheerer than the model's lips show here.

Thank you. I'll stay open minded about red but wouldn't want to order online, and couldn't find Stila in our local shopping centre (large Boots, Selfridges, John Lewis, big Superdrug). Do you know who stocks it? The L'Oreal is lovely, but not sure it's the shade I'm looking for. Couldn't find that range in any of the stores today?

That is gorgeous, found it today. A little paler than I wanted (tho would be perfect for every day/holidays). Ironically the colour as shown on the model is almost exactly what I was looking for! If I don't find anything else, I will ask them to try it on me with the brown liner as you suggested. Was in a rush by then having wandered around several shops and counters, there just doesn't appear to be the shade I am looking for. I did have the perfect lipstick but lost it and can't for the life of me remember which make let alone the colour. Lesson to be learnt there!!

I think I bought the stila online without trying just on a recommendation! The loreal macarons I think have been replaced by the loreal infallible matte, which I've tried and don't find so good. I think theyre discontinuing the macarons 😭

Yes, the colour on the model is a little deceiving, it's definitely not that opaque/deep in person. But it is a gorgeous colour which layers well over matte lipsticks and lip liners. Show the picture to the Estee Lauder counter and see if they have a lip liner which could help you achieve that depth; brown would deepen it but I think you're probably looking more for a bronzey warm copper.
