Can a permanent blow dry add volume and lift to very straight hair?

I have thick straight layered hair that takes ages to dry. I love it when the hairdresser blow drys it because she gives me loads of root lift and volume and curls the ends of the layers for a tousled effect. I try to reproduce it at home but it's never the same. It also takes about 40 minutes , 2 hair dryers and a couple of hours with Velcro rollers in which is all a faff and heavy to carry when travelling.

I've been wondering about some sort of permanent blow dry but every feature I read about them says the process involves straightening which is the opposite of what I want. I want lots of movement and volume. Can this be done?

I got some shampoo in my Advent Calendar called Grow Gorgeous volume bodifying and it makes me hair huge and very swingy. I liked it so much I bought the shampoo and conditioner for when the little one runs out. It is on offer at Amazon for the next 4 hours. Worth a try maybe?

Would a body perm be more what you want?

If you mean keratin treatment, it helps with frizzy hair. I 'straighten' it with a hot brush instead of iron - to keep volume and waves
