Can anyone settle this query I have about ear piercing?

When a first piercing is done, should each earring be right in the centre of each lobe?

The reason I ask this is that some lobe piercings don't look central and I've heard it said that a piercer will try to get the earrings so they are in a straight line when people look in the mirror. Which can mean off centre because most people don't have perfectly symmetrical ears.

Which is the correct way to do it?

I don't think it's that scientific, they just stick them where the think best, like middlish? They've always put a pen dot on the ear first and checked I'm happy with placement before having various ear/nose piercings done, but that was years ago...also interested to know if there are any piercers on here.

It's however you prefer I think for the first one - I've got lots of ear piercings and each time the piercer will mark them up, level with each other and ask me to check them. I've sometimes then asked for them to be moved to fit elsewhere on the ear (so central to the ear rather than in a line with my other ear) because I personally prefer that.

Thanks for your responses. I think that piercers often position earrings a bit wonky. Personally for me it makes sense for them to be central in the lobe.
