Elevated jogger type trousers

I really need to replace a couple of pairs of ‘nice’ joggers. The replacement doesn’t have to be joggers but must be comfortable enough to pull on first thing and sort the dog in, sit on the floor with the kids, and occasionally sleep in (when I drop off at nap time not in place of PJs). They also need to look good enough for my admittedly casual life - school run, baby, shopping, baby classes, wfh - but I want to feel like I look good. Like if DH took a photo I wouldn’t think kids look fab I don’t.

Had anyone seen anything that matches this rather meandering description? Champagne tastes but budget more on the lemonade level - probably zara type pricing but I’m not against supermarket stuff if it’s the right thing, and if it’s perfect I could stretch

Tesco have some nice ones that fit this criteria- I am wearing some now ☺️
Drawstring waist, ribbed down the front and slightly cuffed at the bottom. They're a lovely thick but soft material and I'd happily wear them out and about without feeling too casual

I buy Athleta Brooklyn travel trousers from EBay. They are cheaper and better than the Lululemons I used to buy before they were discontinued.

I'm living in these at the moment. They are incredibly comfy but look smart with white trainers. On a cost per wear basis, they are great value!

I second these, super comfy and easy to wear

mynameiscalypso · 27/01/2024 16:08

I have from some BAM which are lovely and soft and look smart enough for the kinds of things you suggest. The M&S side stripe drawstring trousers are also good.

Oh I love those! Trying desperately to convince myself that I don't need them in my life (I really really don't)

Monsterjam · 27/01/2024 18:49

Beyond nine are wonderful. They have some in the sale atm

HeartofHerts · 27/01/2024 19:21

I bought some M&S Goodmove yoga trousers for post-surgery and have never looked back! I’ve also seen the jersey cargos from Cotton Traders look good on friends: https://www.cottontraders.com/cargo-jog-pants/AC15706052.html?src=PGL3&fix=1&source=pla&CAWELAID=320012860000023834&CAGPSPN=pla&utm_source=GoogleShoppingUK&country=uk&gad_source=1&gclid=CjwKCAiA8NKtBhBtEiwAq5aX2Pzbig-KYI5VZnirecMwCcQaJ3nwTPiECOdk5c8CopaphRLv70fldBoC8_4QAvD_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds

Athleta are my go to home office trousers. I wear the hiking cargo ones. They are so comfortable and great for when I pop out with the dog in the morning and afternoon. They was very well, dry super fast and don't need ironing.

Boozybadger · 27/01/2024 20:58

I get so many complements wearing my M&S side stripe joggers. (Which never happens) They are wide leg and look smart but so comfy!

Yes I've just ordered some wide leg yoga trousers from BAM. Much prefer the fabric to Tesco and M&S ones.

The ones I got from Tesco shrank and are misshapen too. You get what you pay for!

Please can you all share what shoes you're wearing with your smart joggers in the winter, on the school run for example, not going to work? I wanted to move away from jeans & boots (because I'm fed up of all my jeans getting holes in the knees) but it's always cold or wet out so trainers don't seem like a good footwear option and joggers and boots look ridiculous.

WillYouPutYourCoatOn · 27/01/2024 21:17

I am currently tucking joggers into Ugh type boots. It's not a good look.

What kind of keg length are the wide leg trousers? I'm only 5,1 - I love them but worried they will be too long on me if they are standard fit? They don't seem to do different leg lengths xx

I wear chunky style Chelsea boots or my Danner Hiking boots with thick socks when I'm dog walking, and trainers otherwise.

I saw some in Next the other day - they were plain black, jersey, like yoga trousers. I didn’t look at the price though.

DarkDarkNight · 28/01/2024 11:14

Following this thread for inspiration, but yes to the Hush cord joggers, they are so light and comfortable it’s like wearing nothing at all.

Todaysproblem · 28/01/2024 11:18

They are now out of stock, but when they were on sale I bought many pairs of these in both colours

I bought some Saint and Sofia Apartment Pants and they are lush - pull on, very comfy but still smart enough. They did have a sale on, and I got a pair from Vinted too.

I love JML pants ! Warm, stretchy and super comfortable. They’re much cheaper on eBay though. Don’t make my mistake and go buying them of the jml website - I paid over £50 when you can get them much cheaper 😓

Only just realised I posted a broken link. This one works.

Althernatively, I like gymshark but they are crazy expensive and are more of a gym wear

I switched from jeans to joggers during the pandemic for casual / non work wear and I'm never going back!

Posh joggers from Hush, cheapies from Marks.

For leaving the house I look for pairs with a wide leg - looks more like trousers and no one knows there's an elasticated waist!
